The Subways: Oh Yeah

Ah the cliches....

So easy would it be to tell you that The Subways' latest single 'Oh Yeah' is a classic tale of small town boredom set to an infectious hook-laden thrash, it would be almost pointless to say.

So perhaps we should relate instead that 'Oh Yeah', beyond the punk and the rock, holds a doleful underbelly of true soul. Singer Billy may be relatively young (not yet in his twenties), but he's either been through enough already, or he's just one of those people that feels it all a bit more than the rest of us. Whichever it is, those who dismiss The Subways as being another young, dumb rock band may have to chew up their words in the next twelve months.

The Subways - Oh Yeah

Nah, they're just another young, dumb rock band!!

Its derivative throw-away pop/rock trash and i'll be giving it a wide berth!

The Subways - Oh Yeah

I hate a rhyme in this song, can't remember it exactly, but its always on the advert for this single:
"have you ever seen the light?
sometingsomething- eyes" probably completly wrong, but the rhyme is pap.

Re: The Subways - Oh Yeah

'have you ever seen the light
don't you wonder where i hide?'
yuk

The Subways - Oh Yeah

I'm gonna disagree with the last 3 posts. This is a great pop/rock. If you don't like it then don't rate it or comment on it. Don't you think that that is a waste of your time?!

ps The bassist from the subways is bloody fine by the way!

Re: The Subways - Oh Yeah

"The bassist from the subways is bloody fine by the way!"

that would be a great epitaph for them...

bah, i do like this song though.

Re: The Subways - Oh Yeah

"If you don't like it then don't rate it or comment on it."

So every DiS post has to positive? Nah.

Re: The Subways - Oh Yeah

That's bullshit. The idea of ratings is so you get an overall view of what site visitors think of the damn bands and music. Comments are for discussion. You want to go up someone's behind? Write to the NME.

The subways are mediocre rubbish pushed out by the record company and a hefty bit of PR.

"The bassist from the subways is bloody fine by the way"

No, she's an average looking girl who people suddenly think is hot because she's in a band. She's not pretty, and looks like yet another wannabe art student from here in Brighton.

Lets hope she splits up with that guy in the band and they never play music again. We can but help.

The Subways - Oh Yeah

I like this song.... ALOT!

Re: The Subways - Oh Yeah

I'm please for you!

;-)

The Subways - Oh Yeah

UM. Does anyone else see a striking resemblance between their cruddy logo and another band's logo?

The Strokes anyone?

This shit is weak.

The Subways - Oh Yeah

I might like this ong if it wasn't for that girls frankly horrendous singing:

I'm on my way KNEEEEEOOOOOWWW
I'll get there somehow

Re: The Subways - Oh Yeah

completely agree, her voice makes me cry inside.

The Subways - Oh Yeah

Agreed, horribly bland...no, it's actually worse than bland, it's annoying. Very very poor garage pop-by-numbers. The 'singer' is very forgettable, the girl is plain and awkward looking, as if she's just learnt to play bass in order to fill a role. If you're going to rip-off the Von Bondies, at least get the music right. And the look. And the 'tood. And the..etc etc.

Cue much buttfuckery by MTV2, NME, Zane Fucking Lowe, Jo Wiley. I hope something mindblowing comes along very soon to reaffirm my waining love of music.

The Subways - Oh Yeah

Does anyone get the distinct feeling that they're trying to fill the hole left from the Vines?

altho, i gotta admit, i do like the track
