Hep, not-so-young thing Mylo had a bit of a stormer in 2004, and 2005 sees the Hebridian consolidate his position of knob twiddler du jour with an outrageously good piece of list-disco stutter-dance magic.

Plucked from some God-fearing, cow herding pop basing US Senate monologue circa the musical circa the musical dark ages (let’s say 1983) ‘Destroy Rock & Roll’ lists a heavenly assortment of FM deities (Springsteen, Duran Duran, McCartney) and true (Reggie Jackson?!) as a true example of Satan polluting the airwaves. All set behind, naturally, a bass-heavy methodical, grunging synth breakdown.

It’s a storming piece of pop-literate dancefloor madness madness that’s as addictive as the crack that inevitably destroyed half these people’s careers.

We can safely say that it’s the non crap novelty disco tune of the year.

All together now: “MISSING PERSONS, DURAN DURAN, MISSING PERSONS, DURAN DURAN, MISSING PERSONS, DURAN DURAN, MISSING PERSONS, DURAN DURAN, MISSING PERSONS, DURAN DURAN, MISSING PERSONS, DURAN DURAN, MISSING PERSONS, DURAN DURAN, MISSING PERSONS, DURAN DURAN, MISSING PERSONS, DURAN DURAN, MISSING PERSONS, DURAN DURAN…………

Mylo - Destroy Rock N' Roll

Really? I was under the impression it was a sack of cack myself.

Mylo - Destroy Rock N' Roll

It is utter banal drivel this song. They're some way better electro-ey stuff out there. His album is OK though. Drop The Pressure was rather great. But this is not!

Re: Mylo - Destroy Rock N' Roll

The stenciled pic above is spray painted all over Glasgow and it's a total yawn. It's ok seeing it on something where it doesn't look out of place, but when you see it over marble, etc, I just think boring wankers.

Mylo - Destroy Rock N' Roll

Wow, the backlash is getting in quick here isn't it?

Seeing him in Bristol on Tuesday, can't wait.

Re: Mylo - Destroy Rock N' Roll

This song is bullshit.

Re: Mylo - Destroy Rock N' Roll

Sorry, 'song'.
I don't think this is anywhere close to being a song.

Re: Mylo - Destroy Rock N' Roll

tis shitty mcshitfuck.
whats with the editing on the review? some kind of comentary on the repetitiousness of the piece?

Mylo - Destroy Rock N' Roll

Managed to miss out on hearing this Mylo guy. From this review, that seems fortuitous. "pop-literate dancefloor madness madness" - so mad they named it twice.

Mylo - Destroy Rock N' Roll

His album isn't bad, worth a listen. This however is unbelievably annoying.

Re: Mylo - Destroy Rock N' Roll

i'd say it was one of the best bits of his album, behind 'Muscle Cars'...or, rather, it's one of the best bits that doesn't sound like recent Daft Punk. LP well worth a listen, though, yes...

Mylo - Destroy Rock N' Roll

the best bit of the track is towards the end when it goes "Band-Aid", really makes me chuckle.

Mylo - Destroy Rock N' Roll

This track is an absolute turd on an otherwise decent album.

Mylo - Destroy Rock & Roll

Yeah, good album but this is just throwaway. Isn't the use of quirky samples all a bit dated now? Christ, one Lemon Jelly is more than enough, thanks.

Mylo - Destroy Rock & Roll

I'd agree...this could only loosely be described as a song. Very loosely.

Mylo - Destroy Rock & Roll

The album is would be 'very good' if it wasn't for this track, instead it's just 'pretty good'.

Mylo - Destroy Rock & Roll

Why is everyone slating Mylo?? The man has put together an amazing album. The best of 2004? I agree this single has novelty written over it but it is entertaining and I think a lot of quality samples and bootlegs could come off the back of this..

Re: Mylo - Destroy Rock & Roll

i don't know what to make of this single at all. but don't think i say that like it's a bad thing.

he is ace, and i'll have to hear the album.

Re: Mylo - Destroy Rock & Roll

The album's good. And I saw him live last night and that was great too.

Mylo - Destroy Rock & Roll

I dont see what all the fuss is about myself. It's a pretty average album whose best track (Muscle Cars) is actually based on the Freeform 5 remix (who added the vocals) The rest is just a rip off of Daft Punk and Royksopp.
