James Yorkston, so they tell me, is a Scottish singer-songwriter (in the loosest sense) who went to school with some of The Beta Band. Their bizarre genius has clearly rubbed off on him. In "The Lang Toun" he's gone and produced a 10 minute folk drone of a song, which can only be compared to motorway noise.
A meandering song if ever there was one, this is a haunting, almost disturbing record. But one which you should own nonetheless. Especially as it won't be featured on Yorkston's forthcoming debut album.
Fuck you, NAM.
