The joys of
Le Tigre are lost on many doubters; past form indicates that you’re going to be subjected to some oh-so-worthy femme-politik behind some utterly impenetrable electronic scrunching. Not so. ‘
This Island’ showcased a full on power electro pop dynamic to the band, and things have moved to the point whereby Le Tigre are now making music that you can dance like a crazy person to, rather than sit at home nodding in a worthy fashion. How these times change for the better.
This newly found melodic nous is showcased non more joyously than on ‘TKO’, the most wonderfully punchy track from the trio’s third album. It’s all throbbing synths and sultry vocals until it explodes into a riotous call to arms.
In bonus track land, the Peaches mix takes things apart and tapes them back together into a classic Berlin burlesque dirt fest. Very Peaches.

And when i saw them live recently, everyone jumped like crazy on the older songs, not really on the new ones. To each his/her own i suppose but you can't really beat Deceptacon, or even The The Empty, as a dance floor filler!
This new album is good in the first half (if you forget that most lyrics are about being in a band - which sounds very self-centred) and ok-ish in the second half. TKO belongs to the first half and is indeed a good choice for a single.
All IMHO of course...
Re: Le Tigre - TKO
I am bored of this trend of bands writing songs about being in bands and how "tough" it is.

Although next to Kim Gordon anyone can look cute.
Being in your pants helps, though.
