There's blood in my ears and nose and mouth, and it's because of you. There're thoughts circulating my head, thoughts about death and destruction, scenes with me soaked in kerosene, pictures framed with flames and psychotic grins. I wanna drive a bus off a cliff. I wanna dance the spasmo. And it's all because of you.

I still remember the first time I played iDLEWiLD's mini-album debut 'Captain', the feeling of all those demons flying outta my system, knowing for just one second music and me were finally, truly, at one. That was a while ago and it's been hard to get that feeling back but this debut mini-album from Worchester's finest The Murder of Rosa Luxemburg has taken me back to that place. They sound nothing like the 'wild. More like The Blood Brothers bashing book-stuffed heads with The Icarus Line and in the blink of the eye, there are swarms of post-rock. The easily confused need not apply. The pretentious-fearing should stand back. Waaay back! Opener 'Building (A House for Flowers and Lovers)' is nearly punk rocks (in a Sonic Youth sense of punk rock) answer to Jive Bunny. 'Infernal Music' is the detuned warning anthem we've been expecting, fronted by Gollum rolling around the genius/insanity precipice.

Anyone who truly has their ear to the ground has heard about this band as legend. The tales of the singer running onstage and throwing himself into the crowd before a chord has even been strung - they're all true. This is what we've been promised all along. The stage is set, so, mi pretteeee wonuhs, you know what to do...

The Murder Of Rosa Luxemburg - Everyone's in Love

you should maybe focus more on what the album sounds like and less on this remeniscent poetry. all the crap about blood in your nose and kerosene on your face is all very well but in the end its just hype, it doesnt really give anyone any reason to like the band, just tries to suggest that people should by using pretty cliched abstracts. and the more arty this wiritng gets, the more its cements the idea that you are wannabe artists and not art critics. this is in the end criticism, not fiction.

but the album is pretty good, far from perfect, but its failures are maybe forgiven given its context as a britsh debut that does somthing different and relativly ambitious.

The Murder Of Rosa Luxemburg - Everyone's in Love and Flowers Pick Themselves

For anyone who's interested, this is what the band consider to be the concept of the album (taken from the press release)

“Now an old man and with the prospect of death looming, Victor loses all faith in religion and convinces himself that by building a house that cuts him away from society he can take on the superior role of God himself and avoid the concept of Death altogether. However, his disillusionment with his past life acts as a catalyst for his madness inside, where a giant cat and a giant dog fight for his conscience and whatever other life there is left in his naked and passive body. The inevitabilities of Time and Death cannot be avoided and Victor dies a roaming, misguided non-entity without the recognition he would have received through passing away in his past real life.”
