The Luminaire
Since the demise of The National, Kilburn NW6 and surrounding locales have long been known as something of a musical desert, but now, The Luminaire, a 250 capacity, comfortable, slightly decadent and much-needed addition to London's small venue circuit, is promoting whatever alternative music can throw at it.
The venue is serviced by two tube lines [Jubilee + Bakerloo], two Silverlink rail lines [Brondesbury + Kilburn High Road stations] and a slew of buses [16, 32, 189, 316].

Before Blanche, singer-guitarist Dan John Miller was in seminal country-punk band Goober & the Peas then he teamed with Jack White (now of the White Stripes ) for the country-garage collaboration, Two Star Tabernacle, along with Tracee Miller on bass and Detroit Cobras' drummer Damian Lang.
Creating Blanche with his wife Tracee Miller, they were joined by Feeny, who provides the perfect balance of eeriness and teariness to his pedal steel work; drummer Lisa jaybird Jannon, who uses a combination of brushes and maracas to complement her pared-down style, and banjo player/auto harpist Patch Boyle.
Blanche are playing garage-rock, with intense and haunting vocals over an uneasy sea of pedal steel, banjo, raw guitar sounds, and sparse, driving drumming. Some songs are sad and pretty, while others have a powerful, spooky feel.
After their debut 7" on Cass Records (US) and Loose Music (Europe) Who's to Say..., they have released two albums If We Can't Trust the Doctors..., ( 2004 ) and what this town needs ( 2006 ) on V2.
