The Cinematic Orchestra
Unlike many of the other acts Cinematic are often lumped with, the Orchestra is a tight-knit group of musicians all of whom were actually involved in the recording process of the critically-acclaimed album, "Every Day" and new single "Horizon". As a result, when they come out live, you know you’re in for something pretty special. Described as a live show highlight of the year by Blues & Soul, this is a band who take you on an intensely visual mood journey from blue to celebratory and back again. Niara Scarlett, who features on the new single, leads the line with her beautiful vocals, Tom Chant (saxophone) and PC (of DJ Food, on turntables) provide the improvisatory edge, John Ellis adds sixties-style keyboard licks, while PJ France (bass) and Luke Flowers (drums) lock the whole thing down with pure rhythmic power. Which just leaves the man himself, J Swinscoe, to nudge and guide, triggering an array of samples and pulling things together.
