Band of Horses

Band of Horses was formed by Ben Bridwell (guitar, vocals) and Mat Brooke (guitar) in 2004 after the break-up of their previous band, the legendary Carissa's Wierd. The group initially gained attention from Sub Pop records after opening for Iron & Wine at his shows in the Seattle area. The band released their reverb-soaked debut full-length album, Everything All the Time recorded in 2005 with producer Phil Ek on March 21, 2006. The album recieved critical-acclaim upon release and sold well. The band often draw comparisons to My Morning Jacket (largely due to the vocal similarities between Bridwell and My Morning Jacket lead singer Jim James) as well as Built To Spill.

On July 25, 2006, Mat Brooke left Band of Horses to focus on his other band, Grand Archives (who have since also signed to Sub Pop), leaving Bridwell as the sole songwriting force. 2007 saw the band visit the UK for the first time, taking in a set at ATP versus The Fans as well as a handful of dates across the country.

The band's second album, Cease to Begin, was released October 2007.
