Formed in the summer of 1968 - yes, practically forty years ago - Rush are an acclaimed Canadian progressive rock band comprising bassist/keyboardist/vocalist Gary Lee Weinrib (better known as Geddy Lee), guitarist Alex Lifeson (Alexander Zivojinovich), and drummer/lyricist Neil Peart.

Their eponymous debut album was released in 1974 on Mercury, with whom they stayed for fifteen years and 12 studio albums before moving to Atlantic in 1988 and releasing a further five, totalling a whopping seventeen studio albums, plus a recent Greatest Hits collection from their Mercury days. For some reason they have yet to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, even though they've been together for half a lifetime and have FOUR albums certified gold or higher. Crrrrazy.
