Initially coerced into recording solo by longtime collaborator Daniel Smith (of the occasionally terrifying fancy-dressing Christian outfit Danielson Familie), Sufjan Stevens (it's SOOF-YAWN, by the way) has become internationally acclaimed as one of America's most idiosyncratic and prolific singer/songwriters.
His stupendously varied discography finds skittering glitchbeat experiments (Enjoy Your Rabbit) nestling beside Beck-like space-rock and in-jokes (A Sun Came), beautifully spare folk (Seven Swans) and lush, expansive orchestral pop (Illinois). It is predicted that by 2015, Stevens will have released approximately 8,000 new albums.
