When Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore discovered Ben Lee's first project, Noise Addict, and released their demo to the USA, the band averaged only 14 years old. They released one album before Lee decided to take the solo singer/songwriter path and follow up his Grandpaw Would album of '95 with the surprisingly mature Something To Remember Me By in '97.

Lee returned with a stylistic leap forward on Breathing Tornados (1998) and the long-awaited follow-ups, Hey You. Yes You. (2002) and Awake Is The New Sleep (2005) but probably still remains best-known for his collaborations with Evan Dando, and his relationship with actress Claire Danes. Tom Edwards
