Formed in Glasgow at the beginning of the 21st century, Eva consists of Jenny Reeve (vocals, Violin and Guitar), Paul Foley (Vocals and Guitar), Sarah Roberts (Keyboards and Vocals), Craig Hamilton (Bass) and Denis Sheridan (Drums). Five singular musicians united in the ideal of creating music that in the words of Craig, "makes the hair stand up on people's necks".
Scarily, the band almost never happened, "We came together by mistake," explains Jenny, "I was too scared to form a band, I just wanted to play with friends. I was growing out of Eva 6 (Jenny's previous band) and then the week before my 19th birthday, the guitarist, who was also my best friend emptied my bank account and stole all my CD's, so that was that". Luckily, a short while later fate conspired to introduce Jenny and Denis through a mutual friend to Paul, it was only then that the remaining pieces of Eva fell together. "We didn't know what, if anything we were looking for - but Paul was funny as hell and seemed like a really cool guy". They didn't have to look any further.
In their short time together Eva have amassed an impressive list of gigs under their belt, not that they play live often (they don't), more that they are recognised and invited to join the headliners. Supports over the past year include Evan Dando, Radar Bros, Snow Patrol and William Reid - artists with whom they share a melodic economy, and a keen sense of dynamics.
Take the likes of The Velvet Underground, Mazzy Star and Low and sonically you have a starting point for the bands' sound.
