  • Nicholas Godin - bass, guitar, keyboards
Formed from the ashes of punk outfit Orange, Air's core of Nicholas Godin and Jean-Benoit Dunckel carved out a decidedly different niche for their new project. Mixing classicist French pop with 80's electronics and hi-fashion appeal, Air soon spearheaded the late 90's French electronic invasion. After a couple of France only 12"s and a mini-set Premiers Symptomes (1997), the band set about conquering Britain with their masterpiece Moon Safari (1998) which soon broke the Top 10 off the back of the hit singles 'Sexy Boy' and 'Kelly Watch The Stars'. The prolific duo were soon back in the studio for their soundtrack to Sofia Coppola's movie The Virgin Suicides (2000) which earned them yet further critical kudos.

The following year's 10,000hZ Legend marked a significant change in styles, adding Progressive Rock to the melting pot and dividing critics opinions on whether it was a flawed masterpiece or an overblown ego-trip. An album of remixes, Everybody Hertz, followed in 2002. Tom Edwards
