Joining this year's August Bank Holiday Carling Weekend Reading and Leeds Festival, headlined by The Darkness, White Stripes and Green Day, are these new additions...

‘Big news’ is that on Saturday 28th August at Reading Festival (Sun Leeds) will be 19 year-old blinger, Mercury Music prize winner, garage star with a capital GANG, Dizzee Rascal.

The main stage, however, has gained: on Friday Reading (Saturday Leeds) Reel Big Fish, Taking Back Sunday, Goldie Lookin Chain; on Sat Reading (Sun Leeds) The Roots, My Morning Jacket (Leeds Only), Thursday; on Sunday Reading (Friday Leeds) Dropkick Murphys, The Rasmus, Thrice and Yellowcard. We’ve posted the full line-up on the Forum if you wanna see the whole lot.

And yeah, Reading tickets are now sold out. Plenty left for Leeds tho…

DiScuss: Still feeling underwhelmed? Won’t the Roots be amazing? How can bands with just the one single keep people's attention on the main stage? Who would you add to the bill? Goldie Lookin Chain and the Darkness to perform 'Walk This Way', a joke too far?

Whenever ive been to reading u can get weekend tickets at the site, on the day, even when they have said its sold out.

i have got tickets this way twice before.

a truly uninspiring line up not helped by the fact all the good bands appear to be playing elsewhere - i mean, GLC? The Roots? Reel Big Cunting Fish? Pur-lease!
If you do really want to go then I'd say go to Leeds cos it's a better vibe - or at least it was when i last went four years ago, the mini riot then was nothing more than a little fracas with pc plod and fireman sam.

A few friends who are recent goers to READING went to LEEDS last yr (a kiss-up from mean fiddler) and they reckon LEEDS is much better mainly the attitude of the people, the atmosphere etc....why not just come to LEEDS?

Yeah I went to Leeds when Reading sold out- the first of the riot things happened! But despite that it s kinda like baby Reading which is cool cos you can actually see the bands instead of the back of some giants head......+which gate do you get the Reading Weekend tickets from?

amgibbons, don't knock The Roots. They're the best live band i've ever seen, saw 'em at Brixton Academy and Glasto last year... absolutely fucking amazing.

Not my favourite (Radiohead, Glasto last year) but still the best.

never seen em live but the roots are fantastic. they're one of the few genuine acts to still exist under the umbrellla-term of 'hip-hop'

naaaah they're not *too* bad.......although they're certainly not great. if i had to wank over them or throw rocks at them...it'd be rocks :)
