Hear yee, hear yee... Sacremento's finest purveyors of crazy-fast-blink-and-you'll-miss-it ROCK, Hella, hit the UK for the first time ever next week.
Think Lighting Bolt and The Locust tearing up the rock n roll rule book together whilst that tub-thumping one outta Slipknot knocks one off to the sound of it all. Not thrown up yet? Then get to these shows...
MARCH 2004
22nd LONDON Needles Basement Bar, Clipstone Street
PLUS: The Murder Of Rosa Luxemburg and The Edmund Fitzgerald
Presented by Remtek and Upset The Rhythm
23rd OXFORD The Cellar
PLUS: Hey Colossus, Sunnyvale Noise Sub-Element and Change At Lohne
Presented by Vacuous Pop and Remtek
Doors for both shows open at 7pm. Hella's 'The Devil Isn't Red' LP is out now.

Have a Hella Time
im so very frustrated about my chances of getting to the needles show.
and now i find the edmund fitzgerald are added
and theyre pretty alright. they could have gone the whole hog and gotten ymss along as well -
Have a Hella Time
remtek are basically ymss plus or minus a few people. so yer favourite skinny post-rockers will definitely be in attendance...-
Re: Have a Hella Time
Ah, that explains a lot.
I'll probably be at the london gig...-
Re: Have a Hella Time
youd be a fool not to.
am considering coming home from uni a week early. damn dash and dugaree it all

Have a Hella Time
Well, I'm definitely gonna be at the Oxford show. I guess I have to be if they're staying at my house!
But all the other Ymss boys will be at the studio, mixing our new rekkid :(
And it pains me that I can't make it to Needles... But that's our last day of recording and we have about 30 people coming to the studio for a big singsong.
Anyways, miss these shows at your peril. They're gonna be legendary.-
Re: Have a Hella Time

Have a Hella Time
well golly me
wasnt that exciting.
anyone catch the name of the first, female fronted group?
and anyone else think that if they just added some delay-y, springy high end guy picciotto guitar it the sound that theyd be a perfect but raw update on My Bloody Valentine?
speaking of picciotto, how much does the murder of chappity resemble the god of Guy-mo (copyright 2004, christopher alcxxk)? and how awesome are they? and how great was it that they pissed of the uptight waste of space scenesters taht were clogging the place up? Dancing? At a GIG? ARE THEY MAD.
Hella started disappo8intingly, making me wonder if it was really worth cuttinga week of lectures to be there, but ohmagolly, when they broke out the HoldYourHorseIs material, shit be dope

Re: Have a Hella Time
Yeah I thought hella were a bit crap to start with.
I liked the first band a lot though, never found out what they were called mind... -
Re: Have a Hella Time
First band were called something like Death is Love, or Death to Love, or Death from Love (sense a theme?).
Murder Of... were good, but Hella got old pretty quickly. I only have The Devil Isn't Red though, and the stuff I didn't recognise (guess that'll be the older bits) was a bit better methought. The line up could've done with a straight-up band with, like, choruses to break up the aural abuse.
Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh.-
Re: Have a Hella Time
close enough mike, i think they're called death of love and are from nottingham. only two gigs old too.
cheers

Re: Have a Hella Time
Their drummer was amazing.
He can play my wedding if he likes - drumming 'Here comes the Bride'
Awesome.

Have a Hella Time
Whoa, maybe we were at a different gig but I thought the whole night was fkin incredible. The first band were amazing - thanks mostly to the spaztastic drummer, and that pattern seemed to continue throughout the night. First band are called just 'Murder' n third band 'murder of blah blah' broke the night up enough for me - they were like post-rock, erm, rock. Like Godspeed meets the stooges meets the strawberry alarm clock meets Oasis (singers fck-u-withabaseballbat attitude). On record I think, with exception to the edmund fitzgerald, they'd all drive me into a straight-jacket within half an hour. But live - what a spectacle. Seeing Hella was like seeing a freakshow...how can anyone EVER drum like that? Bonham, Copeland, Moon - you ain't got nuttin' on this puppy.
I'd urge anyone in Oxford to check em out tonight - and get down the front if you can, cos the craziness of seeing them play is 90% of the pleasure.-
Re: Have a Hella Time
Go to www.upsettherhythm.co.uk and you'll see that the first band were not called Murder at all.
I was just tired and couldn't see shit. Thus, am gripey.
I still have a headache too.
