Posted: 17 May '06, 15:13
Nottingham Drowned In Sound presents its latest instalment this coming Saturday (20th May), when we introduce four of the finest bands currently stepping out of the East Midlands' burgeoning music scene.
This month's extravaganza features the talents of:-
LO-EGO(pictured) - "Lo-Ego's mixture of tragedy, violence and ecstasy is all too rare amongst many of their one-scene-fits-all crazed peers" (Drowned In Sound)

LOVE ENDS DISASTER! - "Within the year this band will be massive, and we've not been wrong before" (Rough Trade)

SILHOUETTES OF SOLDIERS - "Their brooding semi-nihilistic hardcore brings to mind the intensity of Glassjaw coupled with the heavyweight riffage of Monster Magnet" (Drowned In Sound)

THE HELLSET ORCHESTRA - "This seven piece extravaganza is the Hellset Orchestra from Nottingham. Getting all of them on the Windmill stage is quite an achievement, and getting them to sound as good as they do even more so. It's all a bit throw everything at it and see what sticks, but the good far out weighs the bad." (Artrocker)

There will also be a club night afterwards featuring DJs including the Drowned-In-Soundsystem (Dom & Jordan) plus special guest DJs Lost Alone.
Date: Saturday 20th May.

Hurrah!
I shall be there, looking forward to it.
-

-

-

I'll send you a PM in a mo tho'... -
Blimey Lo Ego Chap...
... no offence like but has someone nicked yer ball?
-
This will be an absolute..
tour-de-force!
-
We are miserable
lol
Its my ball and your not playing with it.
It was probably some donkey was talking through our set again.
-
heard
great things about the new lords e.p.
Will have to pick up a copy.
-
we no
longer bother learning our bassists names. they are just known as mardy sod in corner. No offence paul.
-
wow
that was fun!
-
Makes a change...
From the girl in the "silly red hat" talking though. That was priceless.
-
Aye.
She complained to me about it during their set! Thing is, I can't understand why anyone would want to talk during that set. They were bloody awesome!
-
I...
...wasn't personally that impressed by Hellset, but standing a few feet in front of the singer and talking loudly during quiet sections is taking the piss somewhat. I still think he could have been nicer about it though.
-
What did you
make of Silhouettes Of Soldiers?
-
I liked
the way he screamed. Not my piece of cake but had some okay ideas. Umm, was that girl in the red hat accidently left behind by the Thompson Travel bus?
-
I quite liked
them as it's the sort of stuff I cover, however I thought they were a bit out of place on the bill which worked against them. I know it's meant to provide variation but I don't think it was the right crowd for them, I could imagine them going down well as a support for BMTH or PenKnifeLoveLife. The singer had one hell of a powerful voice on him though, give them 6 months and more gigs and I think they'll start to make a mark.
