The Paper Chase's fourth due in May

the pAper chAse

Are we still doing the whole capital 'A' thing? Yes? No? Bothered... the news is what matters, and the news is this: The Paper Chase have a new record on the way. Oh yes sir, it's gonna be sweet.

The Texas-based four-piece, fronted by the emotionally dishevelled John Congleton (producer for 90 Day Men, among others), will follow up their 2004 masterpiece God Bless Your Black Heart with their fourth long-player on May 15th. Now You Are One Of Us will be released in the UK through Southern. An EP is also expected before the end of the year.

The press blurb here says the album's "a record spattered with paranoia, jealousy and astute cynicism... Emo with knives and a nervous twitch." Yup, sounds about right to me. A tour is being sorted as I type, for May/June time.

Keep them peeled, or be peeled y'self.

  • hide the kitchen knives

is much much better than god bless your black heart

    • ^^^rong^^^

      • it has some nice moments, dont get me wrong.

But it is blatantly the worst out of the 3.

        • ^^^rong^^^

          I will persist.

          • ok...it doesnt have nice moments.

a song starts with the 'dear diary'. 'nuff said. They are good though. Not as good as 90 Day Men though. And the beardy guy looks out of place.

            • Hide the kitchen knives

              IS the best. So there.

              Hurrah!

          • News just in:

The results of the 'naming best paper chase album' event in the 2006 commonwealth games are as follows:

            Mike Diver = Gold Medal

            • your blatantly a prick though

              for wording it like that.

  • I like them

I imagine they would be quite scary and quite good live

    • They are brilliant live

And Congleton is a nice chap.

  • hurrah

    !

  • yessss

god bless your black heart was good.

    • but...

      the worst of the 3

      • ^^^rong^^^

See, told you I'd persist ;o)

I actually love both God Bless and Hide The... but there's something about the third one that really does it for me. I dunno. Congleton just sounds more... more... more like he'd rather tear your throat out than kiss your cheek. Or something.

Gosh I do heart The Paper Chase.

        • i like

hide the kitchen knives best because the track where the backing is basically just sharpening knives makes me feel all owy in my brain and squishy on the inside.
