Oxford’s leading proggy alt-rockers Youthmovies have confirmed a number of live dates for November. Bonus: they’re again taking talking-songs artist Adam Gnade on the road with them. Gnade collaborated with the five-piece on the 2007 EP Honey Slides.

Says the band via MySpace:

So, we're finally heading out on tour again.

“Other than Summer Sundae and Leeds Festival these are going to be our only shows for the rest of 2008.

“Adam Gnade will be main support on all dates and we handpicked each of the openers, so you can rest assured that every line-up is double-good.

“The tour is in support of a brand new EP which will be released on Blast First (petite) on November 6. Full tracklisting and details coming soon.

“Tickets go on sale tomorrow, so the links (accessible here) will work then.”

Dates, then.

7 Brighton Freebutt with Maths Class
8 Kingston Fighting Cocks with Colour
10 Norwich Queen Charlotte with Colour

fuck that

They had to cancel their Cambridge date in March, and said they'd reschedule. And they didn't.

Now there isn't even a Cambridge date on the whole fucking tour. Great.

Norwich is not that far

away from cambs.

i think offers went out to a lot of people, maybe the cambridge promoter chose not to book them this time.

not that far?

It's a bastard to get back from, particularly after a gig. So, no.

It's the lack of rescheduled date that irks me. Given that one was promised.

do you actually

understand how independent bands operate?

yes

They sit at home counting money all day, and only tour when they need to buy a new yacht.

Idiot.

Ooooo guntrip got zinged by Arfie

but good!

Bet you're smarting now, eh? No more smart alec comments from you, no sirree bob, just calm, measured, objective commentary from now on...

ha

I don't mind that there's no Cambridge date, nor that the last one was cancelled. It's a shame, but not the end of the world.

What I object to is the promise of a rescheduled date and the subsequent failure of one to arrive.

Similarly, if you tell me you can juggle twelve ming vases at once and then you later turn out to have no arms, it's not the lack of vase-juggling I take exception to, but the claim that you could when, really, you knew far better than I did that it would never happen. Then it just feels insincere.

If you aren't certain you can keep a promise, don't make one.

Agreed

Ended up driving all the way to Coventry on the last tour after the Cambridge show was cancelled.
Gutted as doesn't look like I'll be able to make any dates this time.

sams

my
fav.

cool

will they be able to fill the cockpit?

huuummmmmmmmmmmmmm

adam gnade

i want him to do a headline tourrrrrr. much betttter!

^

i'm all over that one

Cockpit with These Monsters

sounds pretty cool, I'll probably go to that if I can make it.

ticketmaster...

really:( is there any other ticket company selling tix for the london gig... i'm doing a search but so far zilch...

Nah, it's a Liverpool proggy Antlers...

...of whom i am a fret-wanking member.

www.mypsace.com/fuckingantlers

But alas, we're not playing that gig as the other members of said Antlers are also in another band and are away in November.

You might wanna take that down from those listings, admin dudes.

If anyones interested...

...the song up on myspace is a recording of our only show so far and was recorded by the drummer dude from the Mae Shi/Bad Dudes and apparently it became their tour van song of choice throught February. This made me impossibly pleased.

Does that mean...

There is no confirmed local support yet???
Who's putting it on??
I would love to play at this! Also, your band are good man! Can't wait for this tour.

Possibly...

...we only let them know we couldn't do it on Friday just gone, so they might not've booked anyone yet, what with it being the weekend and all. It's Liverpool Barfly who are putting the gig on, not an independent promoter as far as i'm aware.

Cheers for liking the band too. We had doing that show.

UPDATE!

Norwich will now be on the 9th November at the B2 due to the closing of the queen charlotte venue.

10th November is now the much whinged about Cambridge date. At he portland arms. So Arfie is pleased,

i'll be at both dates even with that bastard 1 hour journey between the two cities.

Arfie is very pleased

The unfortunate upshot of this is that it makes it look like whinging works.
