the 12" 'Annihilation Mix' is the best, complete with samples from public information broadcasts to be used in the event of nuclear attack. fucking terrifying

"if your grandmother, or any other member of your family should die whilst in the shelter, leave them outside making sure to tag them for identification purposes"

    • I'm guessing they got Patrick Allen

to re-record that bit, as there's no reference to grandmothers in Protect & Survive.

      Nuclearholocaustgeekknowlegde

      • wow

that's a strange specialist subject, impressive but slightly disturbing. Wikipedia says the grandmother bit is from 'casualties' although it does have bits recreated from 'protect and survive' too.

        • Ah, right.

I'm less familiar with Casualties. Yeah, I don't like knowing as much as I do about that kind of thing, but I'm strangely drawn to it for some reason.

          • i guess its like seeing a car crash

    • Word.

      --

    • is it about war?

apart from the first bit, that is

      • Well, the war's the whole

reason he's in jail, I suppose.

        • i'm unconvinced

it just seems like "righteous" premise for an action movie story. The role of war is pretty incidental

although i suppose the thread is called "War-related songs". Never mind

  • a few fragments of bright eyes songs

    While your TVs change stations
    Scroll messages
Vctims and Christians both drinking blood
And they pray for the destruction of all hatred
More often, just those with hate for us

And each new act of war is tonight's entertainment
We're still the pawns in their game
As they take eye for an eye, until no one can see
We must stumble blindly forward, repeating history

Did it all get real? I guess it's real enough
They got refrigerators full of blood
    Another century spent pointing guns
    At anything that moves

  • Draft Morning - The Byrds

I love the song so so much, but not the war-ness of it.

Its such a sweet little psychedelic melody by my hero Mr Crosby, but there are horrible gun-shots and explosions and stuff half-way through.

    Hear it!
