MEN: Would you ever go on a diet?

Not a 'The doctor told me I'm quite fat and so need to do this or I'll die on the shitter at the age of 31' diet, but the sort of diet that perfectly normal-sized women periodically convince themselves they need to go on.

I think I might, but mostly because I could do with eating less takeaway.

Careful with that insight

You might hurt someone

Stop taking such

cute rabbit photos!

Yes.

I am on one right now. Lost 0.5 stone already, yay.

i'm trying now

but doing fairly badly. I want to drop at least a stone asap. But i like food. Its an issue.

Yeah.

I did Atkins, and lost loads. Then I put it all back on again.

I need to do it again actually. I'm getting porkier.

wow

skinny bambam. sounds like a coffee.

Sounds like a dream.

I am massive at the moment. I'm gonna work at this. By Christmas I'll be well skinny. I PROMISE.

:D

This is kind of what I'm getting at

I know plenty of men who have periods where they eat well but they usually refuse absolutely that they are on a "diet"

that's me =)

^ this

this week I'm drinking water and smoothies instead of beer and coke

notadiet

yep

...

NEVER!

Just finished pure Atkins diet for two weeks

plus bit of exercise and lost one and half stone.

Very happy.

Everyone's on "a diet" anyway

I would if I was obese but it wouldn't be "the atkins diet", it would be "don't sit about eating donuts all day" diet.

dunno like

i don't eat any take away stuff / fatty & salty foods / chocolates / cakes etc..., i always have the more than needed amount of water a day, i have my fruit and veg blah blah. There probably wouldn't be any need.

Yes

as soon as I get a noticable gut, it'll be diet and exercise time.

And anyway

a man's diet is drinking whisky instead of beer :D

no

if i dieted, i would die

yes

The difference is

women will make a fuss about it go around shouting "I'm on a diet" and "I can't eat that, I'm on a diet", where as men will quitely get on with losing a few pound without the fuss.
The sad fact is that the women probably won't lose any weight because she'll be so busy stuffing her face when there is nobody else around.

salad, chips and a diet coke.

Thats all you see fat birds eating in our work canteen. Makes me laugh every time. Ooh and a mars bar for afters, cos I've been good having the salad n diet coke init !

Absolutely.

Don't look at it as soft or wimply, tell everyone in a really deep voice that you're doing it to get more flange. That's manly. Don't eat open sandwiches, fruit or yoghurts though, that's just gay.

I could probably do with going on one

but I don't need one urgently so I can't really be arsed. I just like eating tbh, it's a really great pastime.

Plus I tend to have quite a hard time thinking with my head rather than my ever-expanding gut.

I have been

on a workout regime with my mate for a month or two now, i used to drink every night and eat all sorts of shit and decided the belly has to go. The exercise cheers me up no end and im constantly aiming for new targets and its nothing but salad and water in the week.

There is still some hedonistic activities at the weekend but on the whole im making progress. Heavy cardio is the key.

What progress have you made so far?

In terms of weight loss or changes in bodyshape etc? My problem is none of my mates are interested in going to the gym, and the ones that are don't really live locally, so i sign up on my own and about three weeks in lose all heart because i've not turned into Brad Pitt.

I think

I started in early June and have lost about 9-10lbs. I do a lot of treadmill (up to about 3-4km now), skipping, pull ups and various weights. My first night I managed about 2 laps on the treadmill and I was doing this once a week, now im doing 8 laps and going 2-3 times a week.

I have noticed that the belly is getting smaller, and feels harder underneath the fat thats left, also arms not getting much bigger but feel a lot more harder. I have also changed my diet to pretty much this on an average day:

breakfast: Fruit fibre cereal

lunch: 3-4 slices brown bread, normally with chicken, turkey

dinner: chicken/tuna salad, no mayo and drink water throughout the day.

I havent joined a gym, this is round a mates garage with who has weights and a treadmill, three of us do it and spur each other on. Its a lot harder to stick to anything on your own. The only thing hindering me is the fact is still enjoy getting wrecked at the weekend, but considering I was drinking 3-5 pints every weeknight I feel like progress is being made.

Yes!

If my little pot belly gets much bigger then I'll start being more careful with what I eat.

this is me

and I reckon whisky instead of beer will help :D

I guess in a way yes,

I am making an effort to eat more healthily at the moment and haven't drunk nearly as much this year as last but it's not in an effort to lose weight, just try and feel a bit less languid.

Haha.

I have no idea. I need to eat more, i'm too thin.

I had the same problem

and became obsessive about my weight even though i was never fat and i began to not eat after i started to diet and this lead to numerous health problems....i was insanely skinny and would refuse to eat anything more than one or two pieces of fruit a day. After help I soon began to eat again, diets are bad in my eyes....for me it lead to becomming obsessive about myself.....Now I follow maximuscle religiously and ensure that i intake all the appropriate proteins and complex carbs etc on a daily basis. I have 6 small meals a day, which i think has helped me a lot. I could not really eat a big meal in one sitting....have fun though!

Absolutely.

You should eat at least four meals a day, ideally five or six as you say. My problem is that i don't reduce the size of the five or six meals!

maximuscle is a complete rip off

Head over to myprotein.co.uk and save multiple pounds.

No.

I barely eat enough as it is. Ever since I quit breakfast I'm getting thinner.

im sort of on one now to try and lose a bit of the gut for my holiday

its nearly working.ive stopped drinking beer.its really easy

i decided a few months ago that 15stone was too heavy

so i've tried to exercise more and drink less cider, whilst also eating more greens. and said bye to kebabs.

results: varied. some weight loss and gut noticeably withered, digestive system has faltered...

yeh

I lost nearly 4 stone in 3 months once

i'm on a

fish and chips/strongbow diet.

it's not working.

yh

if i was fat, altho i am putting on weight, i should probably stop eating so much because i will get fat soon

I ate nothing but

brown rice, vegetables, heartbreak and cigarettes for a whole month and a half and lost 3 and a bit stone.

Have you got a friend or girlfriend who can break your heart for you? As a favour, like?

I need to go on a diet.

When i was slimmer it was impossible to not pick up hot women. Now i've got breasts, smell of arse and avoid females at all costs. This should prove motivation, but it doesn't.
