Secret Circus came out in April 2006, the same month Kate Nash played her first gig. At the start of this year Q called Emmy the potential next Nash.

it hasn't been easy but am sure it'll be worth the wait. there just aren't labels with budgets or people prepared to take risks. i say this as someone who can only take so many risks.

the phrase 'pushed back' is strange isn't it?
to get to the right time that the album's been 'pushed back' to you would have to actually 'go forward' in time... And if an album is brought forward you actuall back-track from the original date.

It really is taking forever. She did MTV's Spanking New thing earlier in the year, and I just presumed the album was coming up soonish
well she said not long ago
that it was coming out in September this year.
But today her PR person e-mailed me to tell me that it wasn't coming out until January 2009, so there you go.
remember though
that it's pretty much insane to release anything after october-ish time, unless you're a huge name. if the album isn't good to go by the start of august then it won't come out until january. just the way it goes!

She said that they were 're-working a few tracks' though so hopefully all this effort will equal a great album.

i'm not a fan of hers or anything. but it must be fucking frustrating for her.
As Guntrip says above, it doesn't mean the worst at all.
It probably means that it wasn't ready for September and someone's had the sense to think that a new act releasing an album on a small label would be best off doing so in January due to the lack of major competition in that month meaning more likelihood of press coverage.
I was alomst interested
about her for a while some years ago but she never seemed to get anything out and I had forgot about her utill she popped up on that lightspeed champion record. Now I'm not very fussed at all. Maybe her hype machine will catch me again next year hey...

It won't hurt the album
if she spends those extra months writing and recording better material, polishing what is already there, and getting more live performances under her belt before the big push. This presumes there aren't already a few crates full of records in a warehouse somewhere; if that were the case, I imagine it would be very frustrating.
How well a debut album is critical in career terms, there are very few second chances given now. So pushing it back a few months for a good release slot isn't such a bad thing.
