How much do the prices they charge vary?

The one I want is moderatively succesful/popular but, had a single or two on a DIY label, and 100,000 myspace plays.

I have a potential lineup in my head but don't know if the budget would stretch.

Cheers.

Well....

as an example, i made enquiries about putting on Darren Hayman solo and it was something like £250 + 80% after costs.

Some folk would obviously want a rider and or/meal included too so best take that into account too.

The artist I have in mind

is a lot less famous, but I don't like the sound of that price.

Well

it could at least be worth getting in touch with the bands / artists you have in mind and see how much they do charge.

Smaller, up-and-comeing bands are can often be pretty flexible and some wont charge much at all as long as they get food and travel costs paid for or something like that.

i usually charge about £15

i'm flexible though.

bumpy

You've got to ask them, really.

It could well be over £100 if they're fairly famous. If they've not got any management then you can probably negotiate.

Best to start by saying what you can afford and seeing what they say. Depends really on what you're planning. If you're clearly doing it for zero profit and will be passing on everything after costs to the artists they'll probably pay on a minimal required fee. If you're planing to be a capitalist bastard and keep cash for yourself then you'll have to stump up whatever they're charging.

the zero profit option

I've someone but am waiting on a reply. Keep the knowledge flowing though it's useful.

Most acoustic artists don't charge

As artists revealing their souls to the world, it against their prinicples to charge money. In fact, many bring cakes to gigs and hand them out to the audience.

^^ this.

Or however much it costs me and my crew to get there. Food and somewhere to sleep is a bonus!
