I had never noticed it before, but then two people separately pointed out their similarities to me the other day. Now the more I listen to Joy Division, the more I hear The Doors (vocals, content, guitar, bass). Am I crazy?

maybe you could elaborate a bit?
apart from similarities in the vocal delivery, and JD songs sharing a common dark or brooding feel with a couple of doors tracks, i don't really see the connection.
perhaps you could provide us with an example or two of doors songs that are similar to JD songs?
i think the similarities that you've noted
are quite significant enough to justify the comparison.
however, the crucial distance is that the doors did it all with horrid "mystical" I AM A SEX BEAST shit
big fan of both
but i dont really see the similarity TBH. the doors were much more laidback and lighter in tone generally than JD
The new Nick Cave album
sounds just like the Doors. Cheers.
I think
A lot of Ian Curtis's melodies (especially on the slower JD stuff) are reminiscent of Jim Morrison, but I don't hear it in the instrumentation so much...
Ian Curtis was a...
...massive Doors fan. FACT!
the only good jim morrison
is a dead jim morrison
