The worst place you have ever been

Definitely Port Talbot. Number one cause of death - people's souls breaking

  • MAIDENHEAD

    • haha!

    • Did you happen to go 3 miles down the road to a little place called

      Slough?

      Far, Far, worse.

      • ^this

I used to live in slough and people went to maidenhead out of a desir to 'go somewhere nice'.

  • Stansted Airport

  • Preston

let's make no bones about it, it's rancid.

    • I live near Preston.

      You get used to it.

It's a toss-up between Blackpool and Milton Keynes for me.

      • Blackpool is definitely a hovel

the so-called 'golden mile' is nothing more than a minefield of dog shit, used condoms and empty cans of Special Brew. Horrendous.

I've never been to Milton Keynes but every time I've passed through it on the train it's looked like the dullest place on earth.

  • Morecambe.

    • oh yeah!

i was actually born there too!

      • I'm very, very sorry.

        • my cousin had her wedding there

dear lord, it was nice, y'know, but also a bit sad

  • Sports Bar

    in Central London.

    • Sport's Cafe?

You get some terrible examples of humanity in there

      Or Rainbow Sports Bar?

      • Don't know

It's a nightclub in quite a narrow street full of children and a floor of glass. Would that fit either of those?

        • *broken glass

          It hasn't got fancy flooring.

          • and I meant the club

was full of children, not the street.

            • And on reflection,

I don't think it was that narrow. Just had very tall buildings either side.

              • London in 'tall buildings' shocker.

                • Fuck off

It's easy to forget, you know. The tallest building I ever see now is two storeys. One of these days you should remember what it's like in the real world.

                  • :)

I do remember, I basically live in a beautiful green suburb with nary a skyscraper in sight.

      • The Sports Cafe is ace.

If you're really drunk and try and forget exactly what you're doing with your life, and concentrate on the Ice Hockey on the small screens.

      • The Rainbow Sprots Bar might well be up there.

I can't decide if Metropolis (Mare Street, not supermanland) is one of the best or worst places ever.

Aside from that, I'd have to say Doncaster was quite a rubbish place to spend a night. I was also told that it had the highest rate of infection of STDs in the country. That combined with the number of teenage girls pushing round prams meant I decided against checking out the nightlife.

        • Sports

          Rainbow Sports Bar

  • North Dakota

  • Hatfield

    • Old Hatfield

      is nice though

      • Yeah it is

But the rest of it? I hope it burns to the ground, apart from my Dad.

        • Point

          well made

          • i was born in the QEII down the road in WGC

but lived until i was 18 in Hatfield. What a fucking hovel. Made me want to die.

Mind you, a little bit of old hatfield is nice, but even then, its spoiled by having the jobcentre down there and people hanging around outside wearing tracksuits.

  • Bratislava

    Reading

    • you must have been to some GREAT places!

  • .

    Bedford Bus Station

    • *shudders*

that place depresses me. Last time I was there, some kids set fire to a bin.

      • .

My girlfriend went to the Ladies' there once and there was some graffiti on the wall saying something along the lines of

'My baby died in childbirth, I hope yours does too.'

        Beautiful place

        • Incredible stuff.

      • Are you from Bedford?

  • Scotland

  • Qatar or Feltham

    • Qatar is amazing!

      To me anyway.

  • port talbot reminds me of mordor

    that flaming tower

  • Redditch

    or possibly Beeston

    • I was going to say Redditch

      or possibly Bradford

      • The only good thing going for either

        is the curry

        • Did you ever go to

"The Venue" as a young gent?

          • oh yeah

I saw Ash there, it was actually pretty good. Mustard Plug too, they were fun. I used to get the train from Redditch every day, so I went past the Venue (worst name ever) every day.

I NEVER had the balls to go in the pub at the train station entrance though.

            • The Venue

was fun. I remember a ska-band playing, it may have been Jesse James, and a load of asian gangsters stormed in turned the lights on and beat someone up.
It was also the first place i got served beer, at the tender age of 14. Halycon days indeed.

  • Stanley, County Durham

    • but what about beamish!

      • Eh? Do you mean that Beamish is worse?

I think Beamish is quite a nice little place and the museum is rad.

Or do you mean that Stanley isn’t so bad because of Beamish? That’s a bit like saying that Sunderland is nice because it’s near Newcastle...

  • Exeter

    • Exeter's lovely!

      • Exeter hated me

        • Exeter's alright

I went to Uni there, gets a bit boring after a while, but lets face it, when both Plymouth and Torquay are nearby, it puts things into perspective.

  • HULL

    • you fucker

ULLS MINT N IF YER COME ERE ILL BATTER YER FUCKIN BACK DOOR IN DICK ED

      • lovely

        :-)
        Ok I'll stay away then.

    • ^this

while I was there some 'delightful' kids said if my friend didn't go and buy them some cigarettes, they'd break my leg. :'''(

  • Stoke-on-Trent

  • Folkstone

  • luton bus station

  • Basildon

    • ^

      try living there, its hell

  • New York

    Barcelona
    Berlin
    London
    Manchester
    Budapest
    Prague

  • actually,

    North Dakota or Tunbridge Wells.

  • O?wi?cim

  • Birmingham city centre

It was rubbish. I am never going there again if I can help it.

    • City Centre is quite nice

its some of the suburbs you've gotta worry about

  • Kilburn

    Camden
    Camborne

    • The only good thing you can say about Camborne is at least it's not Redruth

      Camden's a soft target

      • *St Austell

        • I like St Austell, it's all right

          apart from all the racism.

      • Redruth is much better than Camborne

but St Austell is hideous. They've knocked half of it down, and taking quite a long time building the shopping centre to replace it. Not sure what's worse really, old St Austell, or a big shiny shopping centre...

      • I'm in Redruth right now.

        I'm having a whale of a time.
        WOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        • I came into this thread

          just to say Redruth.

          • hilarious

my ma is from Redruth and my gran is from Camborne, i lived in Hatfield and Exeter. Its like im connected to all the worst places in the country.

  • Rhyl

Driving past PT at night is wonderful because it reminds of the intro screen to Shadowrun on the SNES; going to PT in the day or night is a deadly mistake.

The Townhill area in Swansea is a grim experience.

  • alabama

    eww

  • Hospital last year.

  • Farnborough

    Aldershot

How did I forget these places?

    • Lincoln

      Spalding
      Nottingham
      Derby
      Mansfield
      Clapham

      • Lincoln?!?

On what planet is that anywhere near the worst place anywhere?!

      • Nothing wrong with Derby either,

in the grand scheme of things. I mean there are far worse places that exist, like Luton, Swindon or Slough. Besides Derby's got an ok(ish) live music scene, quite a few decent clubs and it's a friendly enough place. Oh and it's my home.

      • mansfield is pretty bad.

        but i've seen worse.

        • sorry if I caused any offence

Lincoln was the most backward inbred place I'd ever been, until I went to Spalding. What the fuck is going on with that part of the country?

I was a bit harsh with Derby - great music scene, admittedly, and some nice parts.

          Nottingham and Clapham - self-explanatory.

Mansfield's the darkest place I've been in the UK.

    • Aldershot is tolerable and has a little character

Farnborough is full of roundabouts and deadbeats and cunts.

    • BLACKWATER VALLEY CRU RPRSNT

      • hi! sorry I'm late

I lived in Blackwater and Farnbrough, and they are both holes.

  • newport

  • Reading...

  • Leave Port Talbot out of it,

The view from the beach looking towards to the steel works makes for some brilliant photographs. Oh and at night the whole of the steel works looks almost ethereal and otherwordly in the way it's lit up. Here's a fun Port Talbot fact for you; Ridley Scott got his inspiration for the nightmarish cityscape of Bladerunner from Port Talbot steelworks, true fact. Oh and the rest of the town isn't that bad in a workaday kind of way.

  • its

    probably Basingstoke

  • just outside camden tube station

  • Jakarta

  • nuneaton.

    awful place.

  • Your bathroom

  • GRAVESEND.

    • If this were Family Fortunes, you'd be winning a special prize right about now.

      A teasmaid, or something.

    • yeah

i was born there, grew up there, went to school there..
      miserable hole that it is.

  • great yarmouth

it's certainly not great. instead it is filled mainly with shit.

  • Mogadishu

  • tenderloin, san francisco

    hell on earth.

    • Tender loin?

      I'm not having that.

      • haha

quite. it put me off the whole of san francisco to be honest :(

        • is it a suburb or something?

          • No, it's just off Market st.

            Near Nob Hill...

            • it's nowhere near even being the worst part of SF

              • oh god

                really? where's worse?!

                • Hunters Point

for one, although it's a bit further out. I would also say south of Market around 5th and 6th was always much scarier especially at night.

                  • hunters point!

my friend went there to find out about why fuck people were living in a such a dangerously polluted area. she actually said it was the most depressing place she'd ever been.
my experience of tenderloin was awful...me and friends got threatened with a gun :'(. my hotel was at the south of market st... the whole area got so scary at night...so many weirdos its unreal.

                    • I can understand why you disliked it then

I hope you enjoyed it overall though

                  • Haight ashbury is the worst

What a bag of wank place that was

                    • Hell no...

You've got Golden Gate Park at the end, some good bars and Amoeba records.
                      Hellish.

                      • exactly

it attracts scummy people but it's not that bad and anywhere off Haight Street tends to be really nice. Quite similar to Camden in this regard.

    • not really

given it's about 2 minutes from civic center.

      • what.

        how does make a difference?

        • detracts from the feeling of endless deprivation and fear

          that marks the scariest places?
I never found it too bad because you could walk a block and it would get markedly better.

    • Why did you go there?

I got driven through it, because my ex was trying to prove a point.

  • Grays

  • top 3 offenders

    Jaipur
    Fleetwood
    Corby

    • ^ I second Corby

I ran the line there once.

A twelve year old boy threw a brick at me. Whilst I was running the line.

I also nominate Redcar. A lot of the NE unfairly gets a bad press, Middlesbrough particularly, but Redcar is actually horrible.

      • i liked hartlepool

seemed nice when i was there.

corby yeah, awful. got elbowed in the face 3 times in a 5-a-side tournament years back, it's what you get for marking a guy twice your size out of the game, shithole of a town.

  • wales

  • ctrl+f "Leicester"

    *shock*

  • Wallasey or Bracknell

Morecambe is also pretty terrible, as is Rhyl.

  • Blackpool by far.

MK is a dull identi-kit town, but Blackpool is full of fat slags wearing fairy wings showing too much leg/belly/upper arm, squarking in the streets as they're abused by rat-faced cunts wearing t-shirts with '*surname*ey' and a number on the back.

Where does anyone go for a decent night out in there? Liverpool? Manchester?

  • in no particular order, my top 5...

    Hull
    Towyn
    Cookstown
    Southall
    Moss Side

  • ctrl + f Peterborough

    What, no one?!?1

    • i hate Peterborough

      horrible place, also:
      Leeds
      Ipswich
      Lima
      Aberdeen

    • Coles!

      You love the 'boro

      • True, It's like smack though, innit.

You hate it, but you can't stop going back for more.

  • Dover is horrible

Have they still got that big brown terrible decrepit office block on the road on the way to the docks?

  • Possil

i think this is the worst wikipedia article i have ever read.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Possilpark

  • I can't even say the name

it was that bad, I'm ashamed to have lived there. It was five miles from farnborough. I can barely say that.

  • Inside my mums vagina

    The first time was bad.
    The second time was worse.

  • Its a toss up

Between Burnley, Withernsea and my ex's parents for dinner

  • DUNDEE

    *shudders*

    • Oh dear, I'm moving there.

      • I thought it was impossible

to get stones and bottles threw at you in the middle of a packed street in a city centre at midday while minding your own business.

        then I visited Dundee.....

        • Oh Lord.

I thought by moving from EK, I'd be getting away from that kind of rubbish.

        • I had the same experience in Newcastle

if it makes you feel better

  • i'm from slough

  • Burnham-On-Sea.

    • Borth!

where the elderly go to die.

      • The Cwm

Near Ebbw Vale. There was an old woman sleeping in a rocking chair in the laundrette. Scary, bleak place. Quite a lot of the valley towns are bleak.

        • Tell me thats pronounced

          'quim'!
          Its pronounced 'quim', isnt it?

        • By and large,

Valley towns that I've been to are fucking bleak and scary places where being a 'roider is considered a positive lifestyle choice.

Ok, I'm being a bit harsh there but they are pretty bleak and grim places.

    • OI! I grew up there...

apart from the summer migrations of Brummies and Welsh people it's actually quite alright.

Quiet, average age of inhabitants 70+, nature reserves, lagoons, horse-riding along the beach and a view of Hinkly Point powerstation across the mud-flats. What more could you want?

I wouldn't ever, ever, ever move back.

For sheer skankiness you want to try Bridgwater or Chatham.

  • Coventry

    • i just ctrl F'd coventry

as it is a shit hole!! and glad to have found someone in agreeement with me! it is horrid!

      • Cunts!

(I've grown to accept my fate but I can see why you said it.)

  • Central London on a hot summers day

or a really run down Lithuanian hotel that looked like dirty grey cement cube from the outside and a nightmare of over busy 70s brown decor inside.
It stank faintly of bad milk as well.

    London still probably wins though.

  • East Kilbride.

(I've lived here all my life. Shall be breaking away soon though.)

  • lewisham

  • Esher

  • Paris CDG airport

    or Great Yarmouth.

    • I didn't enjoy CDG at all

Flying Air France was a worse experience though - damn those sky bitches!

  • Grimsby

(really is grim) and Sheffield. I feared for my life!

    • We broke down in Bridgend once

on the way back from ATP. The situation of not being able to leave for a couple of hours probably made it worse but it seemed like an awful place.

  • Newport

    disgraceful.

  • Homerton flyover country

    Holyhead
    Electricity Showrooms

    • what about the light fantastic dance floor? :D

      • it's countered

by the absolutely heinous Cunt-Duffles who staff the place

  • Blackpool

although i was there to see one of the best gigs ive ever seen. (bjork, empress ballroom)

  • Basildon

seriously. And I had to work there for two months.

  • Luton

    actual hell on earth

    • Bristol

its like they rounded up the worst people in the world and stuck them all in one place, die you bastards die!!

  • Brentford is horrendous too

stayed there for a month last summer, constant sirens, fighting, signs round the back of our flat saying that undercover police operations were in progress (surely that gives the game away a little?). The walk from the station to the front door was quite frightening.

  • Bradford

  • This is my first ever double century!

    Thanks team x

  • BORTH

    or corby.

  • Before I opened this thread

I was about to post Port Talbot
