I don't know what the rules are regarding this since the beta thing happened, but it used to update on sunday at 12 so this is what i've listened to "in the past 7 days" on the beta thing. Whatever
1 The Microphones 82

I'm pretty sure maybe about 10% is from my media player.
I'm never sure how accurate it is, but it sounds about right.

pink reason!
is that the abe vigoda album you listened to, what do you make of it
yeah it was.
um, slightly disappointed. not heard anything by them before and it wasn't as good as they have been described. needs more listens i think!
pink reason <3
that was kinda my reaction
to them as well, unconvinced, undecided as to whether to give them another chance, hmmm
Vivian Girls
are EVERYWHERE. The internets new love.
Tell me about it
everyone on my last.fm dashboard list thing is listening to em
they dont seem to have quite captured the DiS imagination quite yet though
i wonder how long thatll take, are all these bands too juno for DiS these days
I dunno
If the past is anything to go by we'll find out when Ellen Page gets them signed to Matador
Aw man she might get her own record label like Elijah Wood
her label would totally be better
have you been festival going of late, your absence has been felt in recent last fm threads
i think i got that sic alps ordering problem sorted, it seems like the actual thing is taking a while to arrive though, is that normal, i can never really tell with paypal purchases
I think it took about two weeks
for the sic alps to arrive. I didn't get any confirmation apart from the paypal receipt either if that helps!
Aye, went to Roskilde and Supersonic and now I have no holidays or money left. Two festivals in just over a week was a bit too much. Too many shenanigans. After all the noise/loud yesterday I was almost ready to jack it in and listen to Santana Feat exclusively :(
*don't have any
my grammar done gone down the shitter
yeah, its cool i shall wait and see
i ordered something from somewhere else which is now in its 3rd month since ordering and i dont think its been that long yet...
seems like douchebag might be trying to instigate a silent takeover of these boards along those lines, all this talk about liking his ears more than music, hmmm
was roskilde good? i dont think im gonna make it to anything this year so am assessing the possibilities for next year early in an effort not to miss the boat again
Roskilde is great!
BUT it is stupidly expensive what with our crap economy and Denmark being expensive anyway. Last time I went it didn't cost anywhere near what it did this time. On the other hand you get a plentiful supply of free water, free earplugs, free sun cream (rubbed in for you by festival workers if you want (!)) and the sound, set lengths and pretty much everything else is incredible.
Douchebag just needs to turn down his Times New Viking and stop frequency analysing stuff and all will be well.
Three months is ages! Who was that?
it was (VxPxC)
but in fairness i emailed and the guy said he'd been moving house and i got the impression it was just one of the band burning cds off his computer and putting them in handmade cases, i can see how this might be problematic if youre moving, i dunno though, i need to check when i sent that coz they still arent here, im leaving it up to his good nature a bit coz its not like it cost very much (£7 for two albums plus some fancy artwork or something) and i dont wanna seem like a bastard coz i quite like them...
that sounds cool, i shall bear that in mind, i'm half hoping i'll be in a position to go to some american festival next year, and going back to primavera would be tempting
i might just forsake good taste and go to rock am ring though \m/
I dunno like
Just hound the guy again, should be alreet. Did you hear about the bloke from the Skaters sending out catalogues with fake releases and stealing people's cash? Bit lame of him. Pretty good music though. For a thief :(
I would definitely recommend Roskilde if you have the cash for it. It's good to have the option of seeing Judas Priest, Sunburned Hand doing a film soudtrack and then Benga doing the boo boo boo boo boo boo boo, boo, boo, boo, booo song one after the other. I don't think there are that many festivals where you have that.
My friend went to Coachella and it is stupidly boiling hot. Also they flew helicopters over the campsite and told everyone to go to bed. It's controlled by the man, man.
yeah i probably should hound him
im not entirely sure what he has to gain out of not sending me the cds, and he did respond the last time, which is kinda why im hoping his good nature will shine through, also my girlfriend informs me theres a lot of postal problems in the US at the minute so i dunno...
i did not hear about the skaters thing though :(
haha, id heard tales like that of coachella, i wasnt so much thinking of that though, ive come across a few things whihc i dont remember the name of but have looked like they might be a laugh, i could always go to that atp thing at the country club in the posh bit of new york state i suppose, im not sure theyd have my sort though...

I don't get Cancer Bats, despite
the fact I'd thought they'd appeal to me, their music felt very meh.

3) I know very little about them, other than they're French. Can anyone help?
6a)& 8) Are both recorders of song-poems. Truly a guilty pleasure. Some of the cheapest crappiest music you'll wish to hear, but I find them quite compelling. I found a 50 track compilation online this week so I've given that a couple of listens.

4 they're ok. the fake lo fi thing is kinda irritating, but what else should i expect from a smuggo hipster band eh?
10 the American Recordings LPs really are that good.

3) wasn't convinced by them initially but their new album is surprisingly good. Didn't realise I'd listened to them quite so much though.
5) love the beats on this one.

1. After ignoring the hype, letting it die down a bit, and then making my own judgement on the Jens Lekman support slot the other month (where I was blown away by him / them), I finally got the Bon Iver album. It is everything it has been made out to be, and more. Simply flawless.
2.I don't even realise I'm listening to them this much at the moment, it's almost subliminal.
3. Having owned Figure 8 and Either/Or for years and years now, I thought it was high time to continue my love for Mr. Smith. So a visit to Fopp and £3 later, XO was in my hand. I think it could be my favourite album of his yet.
4. Getting ready for them at Field Day!
5. Getting ready for them at EOTR. The Great Destroyer just doesn't get boring.
6. Another great Labrador band, the Danger! EP has some great remixes on it.
7. Another recent Fopp purchase, another album that I'm glad tops a strong predecessor. Andorra has more than excelled my expectations - bring on Pukkelpop!
10. THURSDAY! THURSDAY! THURSDAY!

Pretty textbook really, but huge recommendation for that Apse album. Like the best bits of Liars and GYBE combined...so, so dark and incredibly beautiful. Amazing stuff.

they were class in Sunderland! However I had to leave early and if they played 'I Am A Real American' as the encore i'm fecking angry abbadit.
Safe.
They were pretty good in London as well, although too many crowd surfers. Did they play 'Total Recall'?
Not while I was there :(
Stupid badly organised gig. It was the second time my cousin's band supported them and apparently they never come out of character even when receiving abuse from mackem undesirables in the laundrette :)
Ah, I was wondering
because they left it out of their set when I saw them, bastards. The Kindergarten Cop song was good though.
Hahaha, that's brilliant! :D

1) Comes out NEXT WEEK on www.rackandruinrecords.com - it's so so good too, she's like a little Julianna Barwick
2) Definitely will be towards the top end of my end of year charts methinks.
4) TIP: They had 200+ listeners last week, 400+ this week - by the end of the year, they will have a lot of listeners. Check these out now, before Ellen Page sings their songs on Juno 2.

acquired.
Not to my taste to be honest, bit too harsh and without the sweet textures IMHO. I may go back to give it another listen though, so who knows.

It doesn't matter.
You know that no-one reads it...
Are you enjoying The Meat Puppets?
Very much
II has given me a thirst for more. I'm thinking I, or maybe Up On The Sun.
I forgot my commentary.
Nude With Boots is rad. Really rad. And it also describes how I want to die.
I'm a top listener for Earth! Yay!
Holy Fuck are absolutely superb aren't they? Dance music for people with brains. Their songs sound like Oneida playing with electronics.
I think I might be getting sold on PH. They are deranged in a lovely fuzzy way. Though they probably object to being called lovely.
Madvillain is definitely the best mf doom project for me. I like Vaudeville Villain best, but I've lost the effin' CD.
i once talked to the singer out of psychedelic horseshit
he was a nice guy
theyre pretty good, huh?
Yeah, they need to be given some time
they have something. I'm not sure what exactly that 'something' is, but it's there alright.
i think a particular bit of 'something'
for me at least, is the kinda coherence of the singer in amongst all the kinda chaos of the music, i like that about it
also its a pretty loud album
Yeah, it's loud
reminds me of Raw Power.
I listened to Fleet Foxes and Retro Spankees and Xiu XIu but it was on vinyl.

What are Oppenheimer like?
I'll be seeing them next week and I haven't heard anything about them.
They're brilliant
Their songs are very short and poppy-electro and they sometimes bring out airhorns on stage :D
Glasgowbury aye?
Yeah!
a 2 day festival for £30 was just too tempting.
they sound like they could be fun!
I'm headin to that too
It's gonna be great :D
