I'm massively intruiged by this film. If you have ten minutes, have a read of this:

http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/film-and-tv/features/walle-one-giant-beep-for-mankind-862869.html

Some of the stuff they're saying about it is pretty bold

- Rolling Stone magazine described Wall-E as "a landmark in modern moviemaking" and an "enduring classic" that bears comparison to 2001: A Space Odyssey, Star Wars, ET and even Waiting for Godot

- John Anderson of The Washington Post wrote that the film would "raise your hopes for humanity"

- "I thought it was extraordinary," says Steven Gaydos, Variety's executive editor, who attended Wall-E's Los Angeles premiere. "It felt like history in the making; one of those landmark films that people will be talking about for ever. How rare it is to work in Hollywood and to be able to hold your head up high and say, 'I'm proud to work in this business. I'm proud to be associated with Hollywood film-making.' Everybody knocks the big studio movies. They're supposed to be soulless. They're supposed to be commercialised. They're supposed to be mainstream and dumbed down. But I was just sitting there thinking, 'No, not this time.'

Followed by...

- "Wall-E has an incredible shot at a best picture nomination. It's hard to believe there will be five better films this year. ET was one of those rare science-fiction fantasy movies that get nominated for best picture, and I think Wall-E is probably superior to ET in just about every way."

Also

I seem to be posting a lot of threads about films over the last few days. I'll stop now

Yeah it was good.

I wouldn't say it would raise my hopes for humanity, but it was very good

If people keep creaming over it like that I won't bother

Wall-E looks like a Johnny Five rip off!!!!!!!!!! Don't tell me you don't know what I'm talking about.

Johnny 5 is alive!

A cute little Johnny 5 ;)

nah

the animation is amazing, and the first half of the film is really really interesting and lovely and stuff.

the second half is just a generic pixar film, in my opinion. Which isn't bad, just a disappointing direction to take the film in.

I understand the hype and accalim even less than Pan's Labyrinth

HAHAH

Pan's Labyrinth is the most overrated film ever, I liked it but the fantasy side felt soooo underdevleoped & the ending was shit.

iT WAS BLODDY BRILLIANT.

Whoops. A little preachy but the animation and characterisation of a fucking robot was amazing. I was welling up at the end too...

I really hope so.

The animation has been taken to the next level and the story and characters seem really interesting. I'm really looking forward to it. Pixar are great.

i really want to see this

even if i first dismissed it because Wall-E looks like Johnny 5's little brother

...

I had no idea Pixar were evening making a film until about last week. Now people are going on about it like it's The Wire with Johnny 5 as McNulty.

This will make the first time I've seen a Pixar film in the cinema though, so what the heck.

MASSIVELY SHIT

I RECKON
