Interpol, Sheffield vs. Stapleton, Leeds

hello all.

I'm in a pickle. I've got a ticket to see Interpol at the Carling Academy in Sheffield (where I live) tomorrow but I've just realised it's the same night Stapleton play Leeds.

Now I do love Interpol but I LOVE Stapleton and I'm guessing they won't be touring again for ages and ages and ages.

Which would you go for? And does anyone want my Interpol ticket? £20 (cost me £23.60) and I'll even deliver it in Shef..

I think I may have left it too late to sell it anyway. Not that I'd be devastated about having to see Interpol live ;-) Are they as good as on record?

Ralph

  • Stapleton!!!

for the love of god stapleton

always amazing live, and as you said, they might never play again. they'll be playing all the hits, in a small, sweaty room full of people singing every word, and it's probably less than a quarter of the interpol ticket price.

    • In all honesty..

      you're definitely right. Cheers!

I just need to sell this damned interpol ticket!

  • Stapleton

because they're great and it's also the last chance (I hear) that you'll get to see Wakefield's Nathaniel Green who are a brilliant band.

    • Pennines

and Stephen from Tellison are playing too, it's going to a gr8 night

  • interpol were shit when i saw them at the octagon

stapleton are brilliant. i wish i could go and see them.

    • Who are Stapleton?

I've never heard of them. The Packhorse tomorrow. I could get to that. Describe their sound.

      • mid-90's indiemo sound

Scottish band. emo lyrics. driving amazing songs

        4 albums, 2 EPs

one of my favourite bands ever. played with loads of great bands. a bit Promise Ring ish, a little bit kinsella.

just amazing. this may be their last tour as well, been together for like 10 years, singer lives in NY with his new wife now.

        • a bit

braid and get up kids as well.

  • Stapleton for sure.

Stapleton were fucking amazing the other night, opened with Heads Down, Thumbs Up and played all the classics. New stuff sounded good, Icy You, Lights Luxembourg etc were all top notch, everyone singing along and that. Very special.

    • so giddy

for tomorrow night. everyone i know going is a total stapleton obsessive as well, so they atmosphere is going to be ace.

    • did they play anything of their first album?

    • I AM SO EXCITED

      • BRILLIANT

        • setlist?

i wish i'd have gone. i've not seen them for bare time. i assume they probably won't tour again.

          • in no order, and what i can remember

            i THINK they played:

From Wood to Ridge, Tonight We Will Carry Him Home, Borovets, Heads Down Thumbs Up, Our Returning Champion, Why Buildings Fall Down, Lights Luxemburg, Chez Chef, Goodnight Racecar Driver, Sometimes they do but they don't tell me...

can't remember the rest, i'd had about 6 pints, and i was sweating like a fat lass at a disco.

  • that was stunning

i also don't think i've ever sweat so much in my life. looking around, it was only me and al that were sweating to such an extent, and i guess he had an excuse

great set, though they didn't play party potential, no matter how much i shouted for it :(

setlist consisted of about 4 songs from the new album, 2 from hug the coast, 2 from chez chef ep, 1 from icy you ep, 4 or 5 from unpleasant places and 5 or so from rebuild the pier.

borovets is my new favourite tune off the new record, it was so good live.

    • and

      Pennines and Stephen were great

Nathaniel Green were horrendous, they sounded like travis or something, i have no idea what they were doing on that lineup.

      • There were two songs from Icy You!

Didn't even bother with the two "bands" in the middle. I could hear from the next room that they were going to make my knob dry up and rot away.

Pennines were much better than last time I saw them. V.tight.

        • yeah, sorry

it was the 2 that weren't icy you. lights luxemburg and... that cake song.

          • I <3 ... that cake song

    • 5 from rebuild the pier?

did they do why buildings fall down?

  • I READ MY DIARY

REMEMBERED HOW YOU MADE ME FEEL!

    • I am so glad..

I went to this! Lost a bit of money on the Interpol ticket AND had to leave a little early to catch (sprint to) my train home but hey ho.. Was definitely worth it. The new stuff sounded so good live, I really hope they tour again.

      • But..

Missed Pennines which was a shame. Stephen was ace, Nathaniel Green were meh.

        • Pennines were great much improved since i last saw them about half a year ago

stephen was entertaining, nathaniel green sounded like travis or something, they actually hurt my brain.

i actually like alot of the songs from the new stapleton record much more now i've heard them live as well
