Dethklok are REAL

They had an album out.

DETHKLOK for the win tho

the members of dethklok

are not real, it's all (or mostly) brendan small. the smurfs have had albums out, are they real?

Dethklok TOUR!

I'd regard them as similar to Gorillaz....

i wouldn't really regard

touring as making them a band, but i'm not dismissing what your saying as incorrect, just my opinion.
in homestar runner limozeen are a fictional band who also tour, but i would never consider them to be a real band as the band members are fictional. When played live it's just the music not the band. Gorillaz can come closer to the whole idea of it all though when they performed with holograms. For me it's just a group of people playing music by a fictional band (which they also wrote for the fictional band ;D )

if Gorillaz count

i'm voting them.

You obviously haven't seen the cartoons

yeah, real people make the music but, it is all based upon and for the benefit of a fictional band called DETHKLOK. The is total serial plot development and vivid character personas that (as awesome as the music is) out weigh the music. You have to get the DVD if "Metalacolypse" isn't on TV in your area- then you'll see what we are talking about. Dethklok is nothing like Gorillaz (loose, half-back mythology).

I've been watching

Metalocalypse from the start....

Real People make the music.

Real People tour.

HOW is that different from Gorillaz?

the music is made

for the benefit of the tv show and for the fictional characters to play. Gorillaz make music for albums and to occasionally play live like a normal band.

It's a fine difference.

Wikipedia lists them both as a fictional and a real band.

So lets agree to disagree.

K, but

Gorillaz ain't got a killer cartoon show (probly the best cartoon show since the Simpsons) and the thread said "fictional". In order to be fictional shouldn't there needs be some fiction? I know what Nathan Explosion eats, I know his parents- I know shit about Gorillaz. I gather they are some kind of post apocalyptic raggamuffins.

They all have names and a back story

Plus there are some songs on the actual album not featured in the show.

and as good as Metalocalypse is (and it is great) it isn't as good as South Park.

Which is now as good as The Simpsons at its peak.

first sentence Gorillaz

second Dethklok

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1y9BIjTSVk

eewwww

worst band yet

?!

You don't know what you're missing out on. How about their classic 1965 single "Ouch!"?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qEEfJGp6VLw

Hooray for The Rutles

Splendid, uproarious, triumphant Beatles Parody!

Hold on

Under the whole Dethklok farrago I'm not sure we can count the Rutles as they've played gigs and all that.

the weird sisters

:D (despite them appearing in a shit film)

do The Monkees count?

If not, do The Debbie McGees count? :D

If not, i can only think of The Beets from forgotten early nineties cartoon Doug at the moment.

"Aaah eeeh ooooh, killer tofu".

oh man

my brother loved the beets, he used to sing that song ALL THE TIME!
he printed out a t-shirt on some transfer paper but i don't think he ever made it. shame

you bet me to it

but i am posting what i found regardless

The Beets : A rock band, comprised of Monroe Yoder; Wendy Nespott; Chap Lippman; and Flounder, clearly based on both The Beatles (in name and somewhat Scouse accents) and The Ramones (in appearance and sound), that Doug and Skeeter are big fans of, later breaks up, and go solo in the Disney version. The band's last album was titled "Let It Beet", with an album cover parodying both the Beatles' Let It Be and The Rolling Stones' Let It Bleed. Songs The Beets produced include: "Killer Tofu", "I Need Mo' Allowance", "Where's My Sock?", and "You Gotta Shout Your Lungs Out". Numerous episodes involve Doug and Skeeter pursuing tickets to the band's concerts, or the band members themselves. The band's original name was "The Pickled Beets", a possible reference to the Beatles originally being known as "The Silver Beetles". Their first #1 single was "I Sneezed On My Face". The band has developed a cult following with original viewers of the show. The band's popularity reached an all-time high with "Beet Mania" (clearly a reference to Beatlemania). In addition, Doug once won tickets to a Beets concert through a radio contest, after absent-mindedly naming (correctly) one of the Beets' albums, "Beets Me".

I was thinking that one too

The Beets were the best.

I need more allowance

You bastard, I was about to post that!

"It's a shit business! Glad I'm out of it."

hahahahahaha

yes!

I'm afraid that as predictable as it may be

I'll have to go with the lovely Josie And The Pussycats as they rock the house but can also tug at the heart strings with top ballad "You don't see me".

J L Bait.

Or Fur Q.

Yes - wasn't 'Fur Q' on the Day Today

or Brasseye? I was going to post that!

"Uzi lover...

..he's an uzi lover"

The Shitty Beatles?

Are they any good?

no, they suck

but i heard good things about the jolly green giants.

Faith +1

Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Bamd

The Partridge Family

all-girl 60s band...

The Carrie Nations (from Beyond the Valley Of The Dolls with kinda grooving soul pop)
Kipper (Glam rockers from Confessions Of A Pop Performer who do a song about violence called 'Do The Clapham')
Steven Shorter (from Privilege - which is Paul Jones being used by the government to control teenagers with pop and religion!)
Mumblin Jim (i THINK that's what they're called....Jack Nicholson in a psych-rock band in 60s groovy movie Psych Out!)

and the banana splits!
good calls!

Executioner's Bong

Sonic Death Monkey

The Havana Kings

Reece & Gilly's favourite band

it is a travesty

that no-one has yet mentioned Stillwater from ALmost Famous. Cameron Crowe did actually name them after a real band of the time but they were essentially a hybrid of The Eagles and Skynyrd.

Best. Film. Ever.

^^

A genuinely decent fictinoal band.
Espcially as Peter Frampton wrote their songs.

Citizens Dick?

with the hit singles "Touch Me I'm Dick"?

*single

obviously

what were the

racist folk band on Phoenix nights called?

# Send the bugger's back! #

^^^Ha ha ha I had totally forgotten about them...

not seen singles in years.

Everyone on here is mental.

It's obviously The Cantina Band from Star Wars.

Electric Dream Machine

from Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia

what's

the name of the band that Lister did vocals for in Red Dwarf who wrote The Om Song?

haha

i scrolled all the way down the thread to see if anyone had mentioned them. they clearly win

THE JOLLY GREEN GIANTS

not really, it's CRUCIAL TAUNT, but jolly green giants are the only band from wayne's world not yet posted.

other fictional bands of note are:
driveshaft (from lost)
the abject negatives (from nothing nice to say)

the worst is the dad's band from gossip girl. very disappointing.

Kirsty's Metal Hands in Peep Show

or The Oneders, later to become the Wonders in That Thing You Do, Film - terrible, Liv Tyler - Lurrvely.

The Paranoids

from Pynchons 'The Crying of Lot 49'.

From wikipedia -
The Paranoids all speak with American accents but sing in English ones; at one point, a guitar player is forced to relinquish control of a car to his girlfriend because he cannot see through his hair.

aw darn

i just mentioned them above before reading this far. i fail.

How about Rex Manning?

Say no more...mon amour.

It has to be

California Dreaming.

They were really...really...really...Cooooool!

Foals

The 'Pudlians

Ace mock fab gear band in 'The President's Analyst'.

Or What about Pugwall's band
