...is a large part of it due to the organisers not really having a clue what they're doing? I know of a few festivals happening this year where I've cringed at how much bands are getting overpaid as well as the lack of knowledge of health and safety, security etc from organisers and it must be a similar story across the country
Apologies if I'm repeating what someone else has already discussed

My prediction for next year.........
The mega events:
Reading/Leeds
T in the Park
V Glastonbury
The medium sized events:
Download
Latitude
Bestival
The small scale events:
Truck
Green Man
Secret Garden Party
End of the Road
Offset
Glade
.....and pretty much nothing else.
Anything which lacks serious money behind it, a diehard established customer base or Mean Fiddler style organisational prowess just will not happen.
:-(
Oh!
Well, I don't really tend to lump ATP in with conventional festivals.
Suffice to say ATP qualifies under the diehard cusomer base/organisational prowess criteria.
heh.
okay
forgiven
what about
ATP? they seem to do ok
Field Day?
If they sort out the organisation this year, of course.
Connect
i think that'll be on again next year. Despite this years lineup not being nearly as good as last years, its still a cracking little festival.
Loop
Great Escape
Dot To Dot
These little 'in the city' events......
are festivals in name only.
I'm referring to actual festivals..y'know with camping and that.
i think there's plenty of little festivals
that will be fine next year, as long as they keep growing organically as they have been. People like Zoo are starting too big too soon.
To be honest
I think a lot of people/organisations wanted to get on the whole festival band wagon - so lots have started up or been organised with little or no knowledge on how it all works.
I'm all for people wanting to get involved but if you're going to ask bands to play and people to attend you've got to make sure you don't f**k them about - and it seems from the latest flurry of events that isn't always happening!!
I still think ATP is the BEST FESTIVAL EVER. Fact.
Haha how lame am i
to prove how much i love ATP i just found this...
