But there's some trading standards legislation that's banned PR/Advertising/Marketting firms from doing this kind of thing anymore, I'm pretty sure?

you've just created a user account to promote his album. Clearly, you've been employed / paid to do so. So, you do have time.
However, I'm aware there's some form of legislation that's recently come about which prevents this from happening. Trading standards and all that.
There is some legislation but I don't reckon she's been employed to do so.
Ultimately one thing a decent PR (and I'm sure John Barrowman can afford one of those) would be to work out target demographics for any internet promotion.
No PR company worth their salt would pay someone to advertise John Barrowman on a DiS messageboard 'cos it's clearly the wrong audience.
I dunno what's worse then,
that she may have broken the law or she's an unpaid John Barrowman fan going around promoting his new album while she has three kids to look after.

plus ever since i saw john barrowman singing on children in need or some other such cheesefest it has made me like him less in his torchwood role. i don't even like torchwood but now everytime i see him i expect him to burst into song ala leslie bleedin garrett. i almost live in fear of it. AWFUL. just awful.

The first album is, believe it or not, really very good. Not only is he the finest actor of his generation, but also the the greatest musical innovator of the early 21st century. This new album will obviously be pushing the boundaries of musical experimentation in much the same way Bowie & Eno broke new ground with their collaborations way back in the 70's. The future is now, the future is Barrowman!
