Drowned in Sound

then you would be doing me a massive favour if you could give my band paris riots a listen. we've just put our EP up on myspace and the opinion of some DiSers would be much appreciated :)

thanks!

No no...

that got me interested... if you ever need shots etc etc.

Have you a link to your myspace? I'm too lazy to search for it!

www.myspace.com/parisriots

just to get the link as close to the top as actually possible...

Can't access myspace

at work, will try and remember to check it out when I get home as I do like the three bands you've mentioned.

would be

awesome if you could
cheers!

Forgot to check last night

but am listening now and I like! If you play Leeds at any time I would definitely come along.

Link pls

Thanks.

Nice

are you guys touring anytime soon?

No point asking me.

I'm not in the band.

linky

http://www.myspace.com/parisriots

also. very nice sir.
particularly we were an army.
my speakers now hate you for that song.

and plus, you know where the exclaimation mark goes in gy!be. so, you get brownie points for that.

will do

sounds good

sorry

for not posting a link. definitely my bad!

thanks for all the positive feedback, we're only playing around the midlands at the moment really but wouldnt mind dates elsewhere.
so yeah,

www.myspace.com/parisriots

im a div

One of my mates...

puts gigs on in Newcastle, I'll tell him about you guys if you want?

that would be cool man, cheers

is there anywhere else i could post a link other than this forum to get some more people listening?

It's,

y'know, nothing new but then is any new post rock?

You're obvs good at what you do mind so, yeah, not bad at all.

i like it

the artworks good as well, very post-rocky!

top stuff this mate

enjoying it mucho

Competent if not very original

The problem is your sound is almost identical to EITS but the melodies just aren't there. Still there's potential here, and at least you're honest about your influences which is more than I can say for most post-rock bands. No problem with the recordings but I expect I'd enjoy this more live.

Etienne is pretty decent though

(had to come back and say that!)

cheers

for the feedback man, i can definitely see where you're coming from. i'd argue that although "longer than a heartbeat" is leaning quite alot towards the the EITS kind of sound (a sound i really love so would obviously aime for in some shape or form) the other two tracks draw from enough other sources to give it a slightly interesting edge, more mogwai and a bit heavier than EITS in places.

i'm not going to have a debate about it or anything, just thought id let you know how i thought about the songs etc.
the tracks are definitely more intense live. we've got some videos on our myspace that do our live stuff a bit of justice.
but yeah, thank you

.

Yeah the other two were definitely less EITS-like and I thought more interesting. Don't get me wrong, I'd come to a gig if you lot were nearby, you're better than a lot of post-rock bands I've heard (and I listen to a lot). It's just when you're competing with bands like Mogwai/EITS, as you are no doubt aware, the bar is pretty high!

Very nice.

Liking this shit a lot. Souding a little to like EITS at some parts, but I'd imagine you'll find your voice so to speak.

Let me clarify:

You guys are very impressive indeed. Liking this more and more the longer I listen to it.

thank you

im taking all this on board, i promise!
no point getting uppity about any criticism, thats not how you get anywhere.
like ive said before. i respect the views of people on DiS more than most because (usually) you're all very nice people :)

liking this :)

good work.

thank you very much

fake blood and others.
is your username fake blood as in, the producer?

anyone else want to listen before you go to bed? :)

oh i was unaware of a producer called fake blood,

it's a song by :(
www.myspace.com/colonopenbracket
that's where i got it.

oh right no worries

www.myspace.com/welovefakeblood is the producer.

cheers to every thats had a listen today. (im operating on myspace days that start and end at midday)

not really

anything original as said before, but very nice and pro sounding :] id come to your show if you played in glasgow.

is there

anywhere I can get mp3s of these songs? I listen to most stuff on my ipod and hate listening to music at my computer.

I'm saying that cos I wish I was listening to this in a room with a better stereo. It's very enjoyable.

alright

flackcaptain, and anyone else who wants the MP3's just drop me an email at rulingthebends@msn.com and ill send you a couple of the tracks if you wanted?

it definitely sounds better on a good stereo, and in the car driving down dark roads as well :)

very...

...good stuff, chief.
On a slight tangent, if you like EitS, Mogwai and 65dos, you wouldn't go far wrong checking out Errors.
A bit more math-core/electro, but still bordering on post-rock.

http://www.myspace.com/weareerrors

i like errors

ive also been impressed loads recently with a band called vessels, some really interesting stuff going on with them, definitely influenced some of our stuff at the moment.

we really should play some gigs further afield!

very very good stuff

I especially like 'We were an Army'

i like this alot.

as said by nofxteacake, i'd def. pop along if there was a Glasgow show

i should like this

but i can't listen right now while i'm at work.

fuck it

why do people put 65 Days into their musical influences? are people that fucking stupid.

lol

65daysofstatic are an amazing band and i can't be bothered to argue about it, i've defended them countless times on this site.

errrrrrrrrrm

being influenced by them is usually a deciding factor in that one mate...

...

Explosions in the Sky must be one of the most overrated bands in the blogosphere. One trick meandering bollocks. Really boring band.

Come on dude..

"Doesn't get it". Save me the indie fan pomposity. I'm not a Simply Red fan. I don't like it that's all. I tried with 'The earth is not a cold place' or whatever it's called and found you can basically listen to 5 minutes of this band and you have them in a nutshell. It meanders and never really grips or evolves. I just found it tedious.

SharpKid - Clearly not the most apt username given I said 'overrated in the blogosphere'. A band can be overrated or underrated depending on context.

but you used the word blogosphere

so we all ignore you.

...

And I've no idea what this means.

EitS are obviously overrated...

...otherwise they wouldn't sell so many records and top the chart every week, and of course all the Radio 1 DJs wouldn't be banging on about them every day.
Oh, er...

Are You EITS In Disguise?

And even if you're not, you're still fucking good.
Hope to see you perform down in Brighton or London at some point in the near future.

fuck it

to be honest, yeah its an opinion...but i've played with 65 days a few times back in the day when post rock was un cool and seen all the greats, played with some awesome bands...

but 65 SUCK!and they are rude cunts

I've seen you guys live

at Taylor Johns! You were pretty good, I'd have to agree that it was a bit too like your influences in places but I definitely enjoyed your set when I saw you and I think theres a lot of potential to build on. Also, completely unrelated one of your dads taught me film studies.

that would be bretts dad, john

we havent played at taylor johns in a while. it was a venue that really suited us i thought.
cheers for the feedback and listens today, apart from you hex breaker, you seem like a cock...

good

but a bit too much post-rock by numbers...

Dug this.

Very good quality recordings for demos. Can obviously see the EitS/Mono influence, It's not exactly innovative, but it's definitely better than most i've heard. And i imagine your sound will vary a bit as you progress.

cheers man

we were really pleased in the ebdn with the production. we went to a place called moonbase in coventry. the engineer john remixed and re mastered some of it even after we had left, going the extra little bit to make sure it sounded pretty ace!
