I did that classic drunken fan thing and spoke to the guitaris/singer afterward and he seemed quite taken aback at my gushing fandom. Brilliant Brilliant band. I want to watch them again even though I can barely hear anything now.
I want to come too!!! Can't believe they played such a small venue as well - I want to see them again, without ear plugs!! (then i really will lose my hearing!)
Chris Corsano came onstage? I left early because i had to get up at 5.30 this morning, but would have stayed if i knew that was going to happen.... (note to oneself: this is why one should stay until the end of gigs...).
...cos I was coughing myself to death, rather than deaf, which is what I was hoping for... is it wrong to leave a Comets on Fire show still able to hear yourself think?
Given the reports I heard from when they supported Mudhoney a few years ago.
I didn't even realise it was Chris Corsano they brought onstage until I was on the train home. I recognised the guy, and was like hmm, I've seen his face before. Then on the train it hit me. I nearly jumped out of my seat.
I said to joeymahone at the end that basically time seemed to stand still when they were playing. I looked at my watch when they came on, and suddenly they'd finished when I next looked. Felt like no time at all.
The last track of the set proper and the encore made it worth it, completely.
totes missed this. chris corsano is fucking ace too. i saw him recently doing an improv set with that flower guy and it was one of the best things i've ever seen.
compared to the average indie wimp-fest they have on down the Luminaire it was probably pretty loud. Great, great show. They seemed to have some kind of weird musical synergy which you hardly ever see. New record??
when you're about ten inches away from the band! Ibzo you're obviously deaf already.
Yep got some snaps - hopefully they're be up in the next day or so!! Couldn't get any clear shots of Chris Corsano even though i spent the whole gig right next to him!!
normally after a band finishes you expect the obligatory encore where as this time I couldn't wait for them to come back on. And to think I almost didn't go, what an idiot.
in the scheme of things. But I was rather near some amps and, whilst I can't be sure of the exact location of my earplugs, they definitely haven't been in my ears any time recently.
I'm pretty good at tinnitus to be fair, bad shaped ears or something.
Really really really really really good. Not many bands can hold my attention for over an hour and a half live before I get bored, but that was perfect.
but not completely incredible or anything. Just really good. I thought it could've been louder, and I also felt that they played quite 'straight', y'know?
yeah it was good
Not as loud as I thought
Lol at "that's the shittest call for an encore we've ever had".
But yes, they were bloody great.
On the train home I saw a man cuddling and cradling a pineapple, whilst sobbing and wailing. It was like watching a car crash.
did he bore a hole in it
with his penis? that would have been a sticky situation.
I think that tonight
was the best gig I've been to this year!
FUCK ME! CHRIS CORSANO ON DRUMS
ALRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT!!!!
i really should have
gone to this right? damn my scheduling idiocy :-(
Exactly!!
Chris f**KING CORSANO!!! :D
Despite me wearing earplugs- my ears are ringing!!
Fucking brilliant gig!
i missed em tonight
but am a fan. underrated to the extreme. they deserve more exposure.
totally!

Andy if you're going again
I want to come too!!! Can't believe they played such a small venue as well - I want to see them again, without ear plugs!! (then i really will lose my hearing!)
It's on!
.
oh for fucks sakes...
Chris Corsano came onstage? I left early because i had to get up at 5.30 this morning, but would have stayed if i knew that was going to happen.... (note to oneself: this is why one should stay until the end of gigs...).

PS: still awesssssome mind.
Yeah, I had really thought they would be a lot louder
Given the reports I heard from when they supported Mudhoney a few years ago.

i'm not jealous at all Lucy
did you take photos?
bollocks,
totes missed this. chris corsano is fucking ace too. i saw him recently doing an improv set with that flower guy and it was one of the best things i've ever seen.
This was actually the best gig I've ever seen
I have no more words. I am still really quite deafened, but if I have to lose my hearing, I'd like that to be the last thing I ever heard properly.
it wasn't THAT loud
come on guys, i didn't even have my earplugs in and my ears are fine.
i guess
compared to the average indie wimp-fest they have on down the Luminaire it was probably pretty loud. Great, great show. They seemed to have some kind of weird musical synergy which you hardly ever see. New record??
that's true
although i saw HEALTH there and that was about three times louder, easily.
i hope they get a new album out, though i won't hold my breath. i like seeing bands who can play their instruments. it's good fun.
It is fucking loud

Yep got some snaps - hopefully they're be up in the next day or so!! Couldn't get any clear shots of Chris Corsano even though i spent the whole gig right next to him!!
my ears are getting there :(
i just remembered how good the encore was. best few minutes of music i've seen this year i think, actually. fucking incredible.
yes yes yes
normally after a band finishes you expect the obligatory encore where as this time I couldn't wait for them to come back on. And to think I almost didn't go, what an idiot.
Chris Corsano
was wearing ear plugs, and he's a cool kid.

KA-BOOM!
.
It was fucking delightful
Really really really really really good. Not many bands can hold my attention for over an hour and a half live before I get bored, but that was perfect.
For my taste it was just the right loudness.
I thought it was pretty great
but not completely incredible or anything. Just really good. I thought it could've been louder, and I also felt that they played quite 'straight', y'know?
Anyway, yeah. It was a very enjoyable gig.
