How much (on average) do top level professionals earn in the following sports, not including endorsments?
- cycling
- swimming
- gymnastics
- rowing
We were just discussing it in our office.
Obviously it's not gonna be as much as a footballer earns but it must be more than £30/50k a year, isn't it?

most of those would only be paid subsidised wages, i think.
A combination of sports & lottery grants, probably. Top county cricketers earn around £1000-£2000 a week, Rugby players slightly less. Most of the above are probably only on an average wage but earn more through sponsorship. I'd be surprised if any of them took home more than a few hundred pounds a week. For footballers i think the average wages are abot £20k for Premier League, £8k for Championship, £3k for League One and £1k for League Two, but it was a while ago that i read that.
I can't belive county cricketers earn that much
We have 3 Yorkshire players playing for our local club (when available) and they get £80 per game
They must be raking it in!!!
Depends on the standard of cricketer, really...
I think the average is around 35k, I read in The Guardian. Something around there anyway...
Those contracted by England are on hundreds of thousands a year for the contract, plus various other endorsements and sponsorships.
I think cycling
is very bonus/performance related
Much'll depend on which part of cycling you're involved in
road cyclists almost certianly get a reasonable living wage + expenses paid for when with a team. Track cyclists won't get those benefits unless funded by a sports body.
