Job with the highest percentage of cunts.

Surely it must be street charity collectors. Every one you encounter is a twirling, stage-school, cocoa-shunter/ fashion victim.

they hate the yoof of today. just because some of us are insufferable cunts, doesn't mean they can lump us all together. having said that, i am a bit of a cunt.

          • cunt

          • What do you think I am, a bank?

When given a 10 pound note for a 2 pound ticket. No, I think you're a bus driver, and people have been giving you change all fucking day. Don't make out like it's a chore to reach into your top pocket you cunt, it isn't.

            "Have you got anything less?"

No, I fucking haven't. If I had anything less I'd have given it to you , to avoid you being a twat.

            • ^

Yeh exactly they're all like that. Most of them are subnormal sociopath retards.

    • I would have agreed with you

but last time I got on a bus, the ticket machine was fucked so the driver just let everyone on for free.

      • they have to do that

        surely?

      • theres a bus driver in norwich

who makes up for every bad bus driver ever. he is in the top ten people in the world i would say

  • Estate Agents

    • This is the correct answer.

  • The answer is obviously bailiffs

Its impossible not to be a cunt and do that job.

  • Recruitment Consultants and anyone that works for Foxton's

  • PR/marketing people

    Bastards, the lot of them.

    • :(

    • Some of them are alright.

I'd extend that to PR people who send you a press release via email and AS THEY'RE HITTING SEND phone you up to say 'I'm just sending you an email that should be with you right...now!'

      Die.

      • This is

        very true.

      • I think I hate them

because they're generally clients of ours (who I'm predisposed to hate anyway), and they will send ALL their fucking press clippings to us for analysis even if they're not on the agreed media list. And then they moan when we tell them they got bad press as it makes them look bad. DO YOUR FUCKING JOB BETTER THEN YOU FAT-HEADED FUCKSPONGE.

  • ooh close one this for me,

Taxi drivers / Bus Drivers have an equal amount of cuntyness in me experience..

    • Taxi drivers?!

I'd say the majority of taxi drivers are ace.

    • Unless you've

been hit by a bus I don't see why you'd hate bus drivers

    • Dunno about taxi drivers

I've had a few that have been great fun, but then also a few that have been complete cunts.

Agree with everyone that's said bus drivers though.

    • my reasons for this stem from the amount constant battle between Bus / Taxi drivers on the

road outside the office I work in. Constant slanging matches, incessant honking of horns, mass stand offs. A new taxi rank has appeared in the last month, it was amusing at first, now I want to kill them all with a bomb.

      • I forgot to add the sheer

level of bad driving as well (not just outside my work, in general around Cardiff)

        I hate them both.

  • City boys

    mainly brokers

  • What's a cocoa-shunter?

  • LETTING AGENGIES

    Snooty bitches.

  • job centre staff

I know they have to deal with a lot of timewasters but they don't need to treat everybody like one.

    • ...

      1. Headhunters / recruitment consultants
      2. Coucil / public sector / NHS people who go on about how they chose they're career because they wanted to help society, make a difference, etc. In reality, it's all they could get and they like leaving at 5pm on the dot.
      3. Sales

Everyone else is alright or you can't really generalise.

    • I used to do mystery shopping,

and after a while signing on, I had to go and covertly assess the staff in my local job centre. It was so satisfying to give them a totally shitty review after they'd been so fucking unhelpful for months.

      • I would genuinely love to be a mystery shopper for a bit

how do you get into it?

        • My dad did bits and pieces.

Going to car dealers and asking for test drives etc and then a few more jobs came up.
My first job was timing trains. Sitting on the end of platform and writing down, to the second, when the train arrived.
I ended up doing all sorts Our Price, Virgin, Nat West. The record shops were the best as you got paid, plus mileage and got to keep what you bought.

If you have a look around there are loads of agencies that do it. The work's not that regular (at least not down here) but it's a bit of money here and there.

          • thanks, think I'll do that.

          • I signed up to be a mystery shopper

on a web-site, but it's been over a year and they've only ever sent me hotel stuff, which I couldn't do.

How did you get into doing shops and stuff.

      • ace

that sounds like a genuinely satisfying job.

  • Recruitment

    or generally any sales work.

  • DiS moderator

    outrageous.

  • Bankers, politicians, advertisment gurus

Cos these are the people that will have led us to breakdown, and they have been greedy unworthy and flawed.

They are ignoble when they should be noble and having our interests at heart (because they run our lives and werlfare and our perception/wants needs, in ways that we cant know or uinderstand) despite having control of the elements f societies life without of societies gaze, they have not been worthy of that privialge, and whilst they have been happy to reap the rewards, they have shown little honour or nobility. They do not execute their responsibilities well nor do they lead by example.

    • how could an 'advertisment guru' be noble?

      • Let me explain

It was known that advertising could subliminally influence people.
At first broadcasting corporations were strict and then they relaxed many rules on advertising.
Advertising gurus engage at quite a high up level in corporate structures, therefore one would assume that they are quite high flying.

If you are quirte high up, power wise and you get renumerated really well, and your job is to alter the publics perception (both overtly and subliminally) Then YES I would say that you have a responsibility to be noble, towards the public, as you are unseenly altering the way they think.

I mean noble as in a railway rail checker is responsible to checking the safety in an unseen manner, we expect them to be noble unto the responsibility that they have and ensure that the public will not be harmed......not just following the letter of their job remit.

With great power should come great responsibility, the noble human acknowledges and honours this responsibility.

        • the father of modern advertising was Edward Bernays

he was under no illusions that his was a noble calling, other than its practical value in making people buy stuff, boosting the American economy.

If advertisers acted in the 'noble' public-service way you suggest, the trade would not exist. That might be a good thing, it might not, but a public service it is not.

Also, people do have a choice as to whether they're influenced by advert crap or not. It's patronising to suggest that the lumpenproles need a benevolent adman patriarch to protect them from themselves and not show them anything that might be bad for them.

          • Unfortunately you are wrong about the advertising being

peoples choice over whether they are influenced by it or not.
            1) on one level as I said, some of it is subliminal
            2) On another level even if you arnt influenced other people that you will interact with will/might be (like kids or freinds)
            3) on a bigger level the whole of the society that you live in will be shaped by this, sometimes some industry is actually built on nebulous advertising guff (uneeded stuff that isnt really even wanted, cept by power of adverts)

You are right it isnt a public office.

BUT since Edward Bernays advertising has moved on from just 'making people buy stuff that is made'
to now be an indicator as to 'what is made'

Advertising has become a huge shaper and influencer of what is made and consumed, thus it SHOULD have some responsibility (whether self or imposed.....since they need permission to display or broadcast then it would seem to me that it should be easy to regulate....of course government admin can cock it up, but I've got that base covered)

            • responsibility is not nobility

and advertisers would not be doing their job if they didn't push restrictions to the limit. 'Responsible advertising' is a tautology, and it isn't going to happen, whatever one thinks they SHOULD be doing. External, ie government, regulation is the only reliable control.

I wouldn't disagree violently with any of your three points, but none suggest any reason why advertising could be judged on a criterion of 'nobility'.

Bernays' insight was greater than 'making people buy stuff that is made', too. He was the one who drove the change you describe, creating new demands based on desire, not extending markets based on need. As I'm sure you know, he was Freud's nephew.

              • both of them c***s

I forgot to mention psychiatrists and nephews

                • my sister is a psychiatrist

                  you bitch!!

                • OK Im all for external regulation in that case

the problem is in its relevant absence then it seems to me that a noble human being would show restraint.

Some Advertising is anti 'clear thinking or logic.....something that we try to establish with education? is countered by advertising to an extent.......for those children who find themselves not able to operate within education (and removed from sensible adult wisdom) they are at the prey of advertising to be convinced by false association and bizarre 'non-learning' Yet ostensibly these people can vote and chose the government, which again leads back to my problem with democracy in this country and the US....it depends on a popullous whose minds have been degraded by advertising and its culture and values.........we hold up democracy as a bastion of 'why we are more justified as a nation when it makes a decision'......yet it treats the idea of democracy like a piece of dirt by not taking care over that which influences democracies quality......the quality of the voting, the quality of the electorates reasoning and motives.
Advertising/consumerism ensures that the electorate concerns itself with 'stuff' rather than an interelated world. On top of this commercially related value system, advertising pours logically false association and 'unscience' which further befuddles logical thought

                  • That post was itself a little befuddling of logical thought

I find it hard to follow. Maybe kill the ellipses.

          • PS patronising is not patronising if it is warrented

then it becomes more like 'paternal'

ANd yes I do think that society DOES need to have people taking care of it....responding to threats to it.

The problem with much current and recent past thinking is that it stupidly only identifies 'threats to society' as being accompanied by hostile and deliberate and intended (often accompanied by flash bang wallops of international or civil or druk or race wars etc)

Whereas the more insiduous of threats (that of increasingly irrelevance of activity driven and ignored because of fierce competitiveness (rather than thought ful contemplation and projection) ) are not taken ionto acount or recognised as such.....because 'they are creeping'
Yet because rthey are unchecked then it amounts to quite radical change (serrupticious hardly noticed change) overall the full change is unwanted and undesirable, unfortunately because of the 'small changes a bit of a time but often' nature of thesze changes, no one single little bit of change appears particularly unwanted enough on its own, to go out of the way to stop it

            • Well there we have a straight difference in opinion

I'm not a big fan of paternalism.

I understand the sentiment behind rest of the post, but it's a bit vague.

              • paternalism is indeed unattractive, but that is mostly as its remnant vestiges seem to consist on ol

insisting on their privilages and positional advantage, rather than actually seeing it as a duty of looking after...........but thats another thing.......I have not fondness for the concept of paternalism, i was merely using it to emphasise that perhaps 'caring for' is not necessarily 'patronising'.........i was using the root of the word that you chose to use to reangle your interpretation of what the activity of regulating advertising would amount to.

    • bitter public sector worker?

  • actors

    urgh.

  • Models - especially cat walk models

Well done on being able to walk this doesn't make you better than everyone else!

    • No no, hang on

Models are very fit. You are forgetting this.

      • though they often have empty-stomach coke breath too

  • No mention for bouncers?

    • I like a nice set of

      bouncers.

    • i fucking hate bouncers

there. My hatred of bouncers is well documented on here but you know...

      HATE

  • yep

you will find people that work for charitys are cunts.

I suggest people that work in call centres for loan repayment plans or letting agents.
The money is not going to you fuck face so drop the smug act.

    • Banksy on adverts.

      i always rather liked this:

      -----------------

people are taking the piss out of you every day. they butt into your life, take a cheap shot at you and then disappear. they leer at you from tall buildings and make you feel small. they make flippant comments from buses that imply you're not sexy enough and all the fun is happening somewhere else. they are on tv making your girlfriend feel inadequate. they have access to the most sophisticated technology the world has ever seen and they bully you with it. they are the advertisers and they are laughing at you.

you however are forbidden to touch them. trademarks, intellectual property rights, and copyright law mean advertisers can say what they like wherever they like with total impunity.

f**k that. any advert in public space that gives you no choice whether you see it or not is yours. it's yours to take re-arrange and re-use. you can do whetever you like with it. asking for permission is like asking to keep a rock someone just threw at your head.

you owe the companies nothing. less than nothing, you especially don't owe them any courtesy. they owe you. they have rearranged the world to put themselves in front of you. they never asked for your permission, don't start asking for theirs.

  • Telesales

    • there's some truth to this

some of the people i worked in My Telesales Hell with were absolute stars. also, and i dont say this at all lightly, some of them were the scum of the fucking earth.

    • nah, most of the people i work with are sound.

yeah, you don't like us calling you up, but we're just dole scum who have been given a chance, and we only want to take a minute of your time, so tell us your fucking insurance renewal date and we'll be on our way.

    • yep, thems the worst

  • any job that involves working in Bristol for any period of time

Bristol is full of pretentious cunts, I hate Bristol.

    • I reluctantly agree.

      • are you one of them ?

        • im going to have to disagree on this point

mainly because there are lots of nice people in bristol too. Also, living in bristol isnt actually a job, so your sweeping generalisations are being made in vain.

the only reason that i think you say this of bristol is because all the pretentious cunts group together, and are a bit more obvious, as where in london, say, theres more of them, but more spread out. and the ones in london are definitely more pretentious/odious. there are many hedge bankers in bristol.

  • gynaecologists

  • I'm surprised that no one has said teachers.

I vote city boys of whatever money/banking/exotic finance careeer they have.

  • Architects.

They are all (mostly) self righteous, pompous twats, who think they are right all of the time.

    • but the slant of the corrugated iron roof is vital for the chi of that warehouse/industrial utility

  • in my experience

    the police
