Downloading on a Mac

Just got a new Mac. I used Soulseek before on my PC and always found it excellent. The Mac version doesn't work.

What should I use???

  • torrents

and use transmission as yr client.

    • ^

      transmission = awesome.

      i use it on linux

  • Stop stealing music?

  • utorrent

    works.

  • blogs and forums...?

That's what i use. Slsk is dead and i'm too stupid to use torrents.

    • blogs and forums yes yes

sign up for a rapidshare account

although I prefer to download LP rips and stuff that is out of print and unavailable on CD blah blah

The quality is usally not up to my audiophile standards but what can you do, sometimes the only way to get something is on a blog

  • I saw Transmission recommended

But where do I actually find the tracks??

    sorry for being so stooopid!

  • Soulseex

    Not pretty, but it works.

If you've been trying Solarseek, last I checked it was still in beta - I avoided it simply because it was still in development and clearly had issues.

  • also, the download section on

    www.afterthepostrock.com

    keeps me busy every weekend.

    you'll need an account.

  • Thanks guys

    I love DIS!

  • Still haven't quite got it

If I want to download say Neil Young - Love and Only Love. I would type that into google, find it, then use Transmission to download it?

There is not a central bank of tunes I can search?

Cause when I type that into google all I get is lyrics sites and paid for music stores??

    • Scapetorrent

      is that one any good?

      Others?

    • Torrents

are mainly used for transporting numerous files (i.e., albums as opposed to individual songs). You can, however use selective downloading with Transmission and Azureus to grab individual songs.

Regarding the obtaining of said songs, unless you're a member of a private tracker, then your best bet is through public trackers like demonoid or thepiratebay.

Not that I'm condoning or recommending this, what with illegality and the possibility of a BPI lawsuit and whatnot.

      • That's a much clearer explantion

than I could find online anywhere.

        cheers
