Dubstep allstars volume six

is one of the best records I've heard this year.

Compliations

Mary Anne Hobbs 'Warrior Dubz'
Skull Disco 'Soundboy Punishments'
Burial's DJ Kicks is out next week

You need 'The roots of dubstep' on tempa

its essential listening. Dubstep Allstars Volumes 1-3 & 6 (give 4 and 5 a miss). Mary Anne Hobbes new comp 'Evangaline' is quite good as is the Soul Jazz one 'Steppas Delight'.

Grime wise the only compilations worth getting are Run the Road Vol. 1&2.

Actually for Grime

you should check Target's Aim High Vol. 1-3 mixtapes too. Although i'm not sure if they're still in print.

go check

dubstep:
Pinch - underwater dancehall
2562 - aerial
Skull Disco - Soundboy Punishments Vol.1
Scuba - A Mutual Anitpathy
dubstep allstars comps are a great start also

Grime:
Trim is a badman. Get his Soulfood Mixtapes.
No Hats No Hoods also doing big things on the label front

also

new Dusk & Blackdown LP is sick.

Cheers all...

...anyone know if the two Grime comps on Rephlex are any good?

The Grime comps on Rephlex

are a bit of a misnomer seeing as they're actually compilations of earlyn dubstep tracks. Worth a listen for the history lesson alone.

I really wana hear that one

whens it out?

YES! Crime is definitely linked to dubstep, its all those blacks innit?

Hang on, having re-checked the thread title I now see its Grime and dubstep I thought it was Crime and dubstep for a minute. Yoko oh no and the jay z fans are thieves debacle has turned me into a bit of a racist. Sorry about that

Dubstep

Dubstep Allstars Vol.06 Mixed by Appleblim is fantastic.

2562 - Aerial is an ace album from start to finish, in a techy dub vain.

Burial - DJ Kicks out soon and I cant wait to hear it should be pretty special.

Pinch Underwater - Dancehall has some wicked vocal numbers I wasnt to keen at first but now I love it.

Kode 9 Featuring The Spaceape - Memories of the future. is damn good I love spaceapes dub poetry stylings.

Flying Lotus - Los Angeles isn't really dubstep I guess but its ace instrumental hip-hop bass music in anycase.

Grime, which I dont know to much about...

Ghetto - Freedom Of Speach. I enjoyed quite a bit he is one angry dude and the beats are pretty dark.

Trim - Soul Food Vol.03 is what I have been recomended I haven't got my hands on it yet though.

Pitcfork do a good artical every month... this month in grime and dubstep its pretty good with suggestions.

I have been writing about dubstep here and there are mixes from FlyLo, Kode 9, Martyn, Appleblim...
