    • Ooo yeah

I LOVE a bit of Stoner rock (would Dead Meadow count or is that a little light?)

      Recommendations welcome!

      • I like Dead Meadow cept the songs are all the same.

and yes Dead Meadow would definitely qualify in my opinion.

    • what he said ^

plus some Kyuss, Sleep, Fu Manchu, Cathedral, Orange Goblin and the first 4 Black Sabbath albums to see where it all comes from..

      • All the Sabbath records

        ...up to Sabotage.

A couple of awesome British groups.

        Hey Colossus
        The Notorious Hi-Fi Killers

  • K Y U S S

    obvious much, sorry.
    At a push see also
Karma to Burn, Orange Gobline, Slo-Burn, Brant Bjork (with or without the bros), Dozer....I may return with better ones.

    • I am a clot

there is clearly no e in goblin.

  • Boris

    !

    • Has to be Dead Meadow - Feathers

Really good hazey album. I try Black Mountain's Into the Future as well.

      • YES YES YES

in regards to Elfrim's post. Feathers is brilliant. If you ever get a chance to see Dead Meadow live as well I heartily recommend it!

        • what are dead meadow like?

they're playing end of the road i think and I wanna know what to expect.

          • Cool

            fucking cool
sludgy rock but not in a crappy way.

          • kind of a sludgy Creedence Clearwater

worth checking out, I not sold on them yet though.

          • Lgordon

you MUST see Dead Meadow - live they are a force to be reckoned with! Really f**king good! I didn't know they were playing - I might definitely have to show for that! If you catch 'em I'll be the midget dancing her ass off..

    • I agree: BORIS

      !

  • Harvey Milk

Dunno if they count as stoner rock, exactly...

  • Just bought Melvins tickets

they are playing in Yellowstone Valley Brewing in Billings, Montana- a tiny venue- I can't beleive my luck.

  • Anything by Spirit Caravan

Stoner in a Black Sabbath way

  • Black Angels

    Bardo Pond
    Spacemen3/Spiritualized
    Black Mountain
    Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
Black Keys (lots of "black" bands!)
    Crystal Antlers
    Retribution Gospel Choir

  • Sleep

    Kyuss
    Bullhead by Melvins
    Fu Manchu
    Monster Magnet
    Unida
    Slo Burn

  • Most

Of the best one's have been mentioned, but may I add:

    Comets on Fire
    Clutch
    Solace
    Unida
    Goatsnake

...and you could just go to stonerrock.com and pillage their jukebox. You'll have to wade through a halluva lot of sub-Sabbath balls though, but the gems are more than worth it.

  • Back to the 80's

you got to try a bit of...

    Loop

  • Om

    Om

    Om

    Om

  • Dudes - show some love for the UK

    Orange Goblin
    Electric Wizard
    Cathedral
    Moss
    Hangnail
and everything else on Rise Above Records

    but mainly Orange Goblin

    • yeah.....kyuss

      or Helmet

      • Kyuss

        Masters of Reality
but also surprised no one has mentioned Monster Magnet, they def have their moments!

        • I believe they did get mentioned

somewhere on here, but more than worth a couple more recommendations.

Get 'Dopes to Infinity' or 'Superjudge.' Or 'Spine of God.' All class.

          • yep!

sorry my mistake just noticed they indeed have been mentioned. I like Powertrip and God Says No albums too.

  • big business

    • Big business

are class, grounds for divorce is some tune

  • Fu Manchu

    "In Search Of" is immense

"The Action is Go" is good too.

    • ooh and Kyuss

      Circus Leaves Town

  • Sleep

  • Awesome choices so far

I thought Moss were more of a Dooooom band but I guess they could fall under the stoner umbrella too.
    I'd also recommend
    Humanfly
    Sons Of Alpa Centauri
    and Gentlemens Pistols

  • Nebula

    The Heads
    Weedeater
    Bongzilla
    Birds of Maya
    Blue Cheer
    Colour Haze
    Lesbian
    Capricorns
    Stinking Lizaveta

Most of what has already been mentioned

    • add Karp to the list as well

      • Glad you mentioned Weedeater

        totally boss

        • I always mention

Weedeater in these stoner rock threads but it's only cause they are the schiznit.

  • Dobermann!

    They're awesome.

  • Definitely Clutch!

    Kyuss
    Gonga

  • Its a crime

that no one has said Hawkwind. They practically invented the genre.

    GET SPACE RITUAL

    NOW

  • Eternal Elysium

and Greenmachine are worth a looksee.

Eternal Elysium have an interesting cover of Maiden's Innocent Exile too.

Roadsaw's Nationwide album is a stormer as well.

I second Masters Of Reality. Blue Garden has some great desert rock sounding songs. Criminal that Chris Goss' contribution to that sound is sometimes overlooked.

    • ^ Agreed

Though I've always prefered Sunrise on the Sufferbus. It's not really stoner but still.

  • Cheers guys

  • As most of the good ones have been said

I'm gonna recommend a local band I know called Jecano. They're fucking awesome.
