Shame it finished so early and the drinks were so expensive, but the performance was excellent, and their drummer/percussionist/'mascot' is ridiculous, I've no idea how he manages to do what he does. I kinda always hoped Yoni would be more of, well, a rapper, but I guess he makes up for it by being sort of multi instrumental on stage and not just a vocalist. Can't wait to see them again at Dour, as well as Subtle.
I think I was standing behind you guys up on the balcony, the guy was a bit of a loon..literally the only person in the audience moving from what I could see
But seriously one of the best sets I've seen in a long while...
I really liked the keyboardist guy aswell, he had a great voice for the backing vocals and such
I had one of the best days of music I've seen all year today.
I saw Chris Alcxxk fiddling with his songs, potential dripping from every underpracticed oriface.
I saw Pagan Wanderer Lu reveal the depth of amazing songs in his repertoire by playing a "b-side" type set that is better than most bands' "a-sides" set.
I saw Dead Singer make a fucking huge awesome spine-tinglingly heavy set, like a metal Boredoms or something.
I saw Ace Bushy Striptease do their London debut, veering between chiming emo racket and Bearsuit style music room mashup with clapping and screaming.
I saw Applicants play one of the most sublimely winning sets ever, including Jeffrey dancing outside in the street and attracting car horn beeps mid-set and just an ADORABLE amount of melody and chaos.
I saw Retro Spankees play their slanted and loveable Pavement vs Los Camp mid-Atlantic indierockpop. AWESUM.
I saw Modernaire play their spotlessly cool and cocky electro-pop-noir.
And I saw Capitol K doing his humble but incredibly complex one-man electronic live music show. He improvises the fuck out of every song, it's an amazing tightrope act to watch... different every time and inspired. He's been around the block, and gets better and better.
Just really really likable and painfully talented. Plus watching the drummer from the balcony was great as the angel we had on him made is leg look really detached from his body causing giggles what what.
It was pretty much all Alopecia and Elephant Eyelash, wasn't it?
I really wanted to hear Fatalist Palmistry and Speech Bubbles :(
I wanted to dance more but was right at the front and was feeling hayfevery and self-conscious. Also no one else was dancing. Bit of comedy head-nodding going on, though.
Really enjoyed it, and pleased that it was mostly Elephant Eyelash and Alopecia. I think there was only one song I didn't know? & did anyone buy the Alopecia demo cd? I did, although I'm not sure I'll actually listen to it much.
I also managed to get a story from Yoni, Doug and Josiah, so that was extra great for me.
the demo cd was £5. Have listened to it just the once so far- it sounds (surprisingly enough) like the real album, but more basicky, so I don't know how much I'll listen to it.
I was tempted by the tshirt, but was unsure of the colour of it in the strange light, and the material looked like it was a bit thin, so I gave it a miss.
Yeah it was ace

Why?
yeah!
that was awesome. i hope they play darla tomorrow but the setlist today was good fun.
one guy to my left kept dancing like an absolute nutcase - we get it hombre, you know the songs.
really really doubt they'll play darla
a lot.
if they do i shall kill you
Why?
yeah i know they won't play it
but if they do then i will be prepared to die happily.
Amazing gig
First time I've seen them live, fantastic stuff...
Why?
Yeah it was great.
Good set - 'Crushed Bones' was great. I loved all the between song banter as well.
Oh, and Ibzo, I think I was behind you! A guy was having a mental time dancing to my left. Unless of course in your post you're referring to me...
Yeah

you weren't the nuts guy though, he was wearing a neckerchief.
Oh good, we are talking about the same guy!
Sorry if my ridiculous hair blocked your view at all.
^supposed to be a Lordjamwad post

I'm glad you enjoyed Why? but

So much better than I could have imagined

Angel

Great gig
it all seemed to go so quickly though. Surprised there was so much from Elephant Eyelash, pleasantly of course.

oh wow
cool blog, really cool. i have mookbarked it.
this is
a fantastic blog, I love it!
this was so brilliant
I loved the vibraphone! And I want to take Yoni home and keep him as a pet. Between song banter was ace.
Oh I didn't see you!
Boo
I was with Mr Alcxxk
down on the floor. I love Madame Jojo's, I can see the stage!
anyone going tonight
Thought it was a fantastic show, although I felt very old standing next to what looked like the cast of Skins down the front.
They must be doing well as there were a lot less Alt-Hip-Hop beard stroking at this show compared to the past.
Good to see them getting the success they deserve
good day
spare tickz for tonight at cargo? love x
good, but disapointing
I'm not a big fan of Elephant Eyelash so half the set was a little 'meh' for me.
I was really hoping for something off the first record, although i did manage to buy the LP from them.
Overall 3/5, filed under "Better on record than live"
yays
it was awesome, i'm so happy they played gemini! i hope they play fatalist palmistry and fall saddles tonight though.
josiah sold me the last sanddollars ep they had left on the merch stand - and we got it signed :)
two great support bands, too.
