I've bought albums by the following bands:
Charlottefield
Foals
Youthmovies
They Came From The Stars I Saw Them
Duels
Johnny Foreigner
maybeshewill
Her Name Is Calla
Earth
The Mars Volta (was it this year?)
I've listed the following bands with a view to buying their albums.
Lite
Wild Beasts
Fuck Buttons
No Age
I'm pretty sure I'll get the new Sigur Ros album aswell.
So all I'm looking for really is a list of bands who have released an album this year, maybe with a short description if their not obvious ones. I lose touch otherwise, thanks.
Here

Although
that may be a more mainstream-orientated list..
Yeah, it is.
But it still reminded me of Alopecia by Why? ;)
so you've got Why?
it wasn't on your list. you need alopecia in your life.
(album not disease)
Oh yeah.
I also bought the
..Black Mountain album.
*This is an accidental double post*
barring any stealth genius popping up to shock us
the rest of 2008 looks pretty bleak too.
I'm hoping for a miracle with the new Roxy Music- fat chance there but I'm hoping.
volcano! album coming out in August/September (I forget which)
And the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs album later this year. Apart from that I can't think of anything.
um
best albums of this yr:
I'd choose from The Fall, Diamanda Galas, Bun B, Lil Wayne, No Age, Xiu Xiu... haven't heard those Fuck Buttons fellows but they sound mega. I guess Foals is entertainment too.
there's also an Abe Vigoda album coming out. like, if DiS doesn't start loving them more, I shouldn't worry because Pitchfork probably will.
the new :
Subtle
Wolf Parade
Fleet Foxes
are all worthy purchases in my opinion
I've read a bit about the Fleet Foxes and Subtle releases..
..and I'm not sure I'd like them, although I can't remember what Wolf Parade are supposed to be like.
How would you describe the releases you posted?
ermmm
Subtle are weird hip hop with various experimental "indie" type things thrown in
wolf parade are EXCELLENT canadian indie rock. Pretty catchy but not the annoying kind.
Fleet Foxes are sort of old style folk but ermm excellent and god I cannot describe stuff.
aren't Wolf Parade
basically the same as Sunset Rubdown?
.........
Torche - Meaderthal
yes!
even when spelt incorrectly this album is amazing. amazing amazing amazing.
What are they like?
Howlin Rain....
is the record worth investing in? Sounds alright from the bits ive heard.
I thought
that the new Howlin Rain album was pretty bad, the first is so much better.
ermmm
i dunno. good? possibly on last.fm to stream? quite heavy, but not like, silly heavy, just... ya know. that nice level of heaviness. haha. not one for fans of 'jo-fo' or 'j-lo'
ps. it was spelt correctly. i'm a douche.
I like Johnny Foreigner..
..then again I like DEP & Converge, some people like heavy music and twee indie bands, is that ok with you? ;)
it's fine
why wouldn't it be fine?
fucking hell you're a dick.
I was joking..
..didn't you see the smiley face, that was a clue. ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)
i wasn't joking
you're a bellend.
Thrice - Volumes III & IV(Air and Earth)
epic post hardcore although not as good as the first two volumes in my opinion
Blood Red Shoes - Box Of Secrets, Humanfly "II", stoner/post-metal in a similar vein to bands like Isis, Neurosis and Pelican it's pretty awesome
and if EP's count
Maths/Throats - Split EP(converge esque metalcore and old school screamo in a similar vein to saetia/jeromes dream/joshua fit for battle) and Dananananaykroyd - Sissy Hits
Ahh, yes I should add Sissy Hits to my list.
Human Fly = Amazing
I stumbled drunkenly upon them (almost literally actually) playing in Newcastle a few weeks back, absolutely fucking immense...
...

I want an M83 album..
