Wow. Just wow, what a gig, absolutely brilliant, perfect set list, good audience. Raining but ponchos = invincibility! Bat For Lashes was really good too, her new songs sound very impressive, can't wait to see her live again!

I coould here it when I drove past.

Sounded all right, dont think I could be arsed standing in the rain...

what was

the setlist?
my mate was there, he said it was soaking wet but worth it.

Hmm...

From where I was standing the crowd were terrible and I just couldn't get into the atmosphere until, bizarely, my old music teacher pushed through shouting "go go go!" to the opening notes of paranoid android, his "favourite song ever", and I tagged along at the end in one desperate attempt to get some atmosphere. Maybe I was just unlucky, but most of the gig I was stood behind a 6'6" guy and couldn't see a thing with a drunk guy to my left who didn't know any of the songs yet kept shouting "is this creep?" at the start of all of them. He didn't even recognize No surprises. I mean, come on. And i was constantly being buffeted by pricks pushing through without apologising or even looking sorry, and there was a fight before the band even came on. Crowd were rubbish near me. And it was raining.

Bat for lashes are rubbish. Like a rubbish boring bjork.

(but yeah, the setlist was amazing

and they're an amazing band. A dissapointing 7/10)

hah!

it still got a 7/10 despite how much you talked down on it?

Well yeah

cos they're my favourite band of all time.

A friend of mine was at the barrier

Apparently the crowd was just as crap there.

The crowd wasn't too bad where I was

(frontish left) except during Bat For Lashes, but that's kinda to be expected. Anyone else agree 2+2=5 was the highlight, unbelievably good!

Don't even bring Bjork into it

It was like a poor man's Paula Cole. Ugh.

Please don't slag Natasha

Even if you didn't like her, she's too nice to insult!

Apparently not...

Who's Natasha?

Bat For Lashes? I'm sure she's lovely.

Yeah, Natasha Khan is Bat For Lashes

I really don't understand how anyone can dislike her, maybe her physical beauty has blinded me to her music?! Nah, everyone else is just wrong! :D

I don't dislike her, im sure she's dead nice

I dislike her rubbish music that i didn't like cos it was rubbish.

We'll agree to disagree

(but both secretly know that i'm right!)

Setlist:

15 Step
Airbag
There There
All I Need
Nude
Arpeggi
The Gloaming
The National Anthem
Hunting Bears
Faust Arp
No Surprises
Jigsaw Falling Into Place
Reckoner
Just
Bangers 'n' Mash
Everything In Its Right Place
Fake Plastic Trees
Bodysnatchers
ENCORE #1
Videotape
Paranoid Android
Myxomatosis
Optimistic
Karma Police

ENCORE #2
Like Spinning Plates
2+2=5
Idioteque

Those two encores

are seriously mindblowing. The main set looks tepid in comparison.

might

have just been where I was standing (to the right, fairly close to the front) but it seemed awfully quiet to me.

other complaints:
bad in raindbows to kid a/amnesiac ratio.
if only idioteque had gone on for just a minute longer it would have become euphoric.

otherwise though, solid and enjoyable evening, I quite liked the crowd, thought everyone was pretty well mannered and having a laugh, quite enjoyed the rain and certain songs were amazing, namely;

there there
The National Anthem
Everything in its right place
fake plastic trees
optimistic
karma police
like spinning plates
2+2=5
idioteque

it was so goooood

we were at the right side for the majority of the time then moved to the centre. i had a great view from the side but the sound was better in the midddle. a great setlist! and thom seemed happier than other times i have seen them. very gooooooood!

now getting ready to go to manchester to do it all over again :D

I really enjoyed it

There was a definite shift in mood when they played Just, lot's of people running forward and a few middle aged ones running back.It would have been better if it was darker though to make full use of the rather awesome light show but still brilliant regardless.

I really wish people would stop smoking at open air gigs or taking group photos of themselves whilst the band are playing though.

i thought the crowd was good too

one or two twats occasionally near me but moved along pretty quickly, seems to be a localisation thing. i was really glad i went to the glasgow show over the london shows, as i imagine much less wankers in glasgow than in london.

Set was great, i said beforehand that i didn't really care what they played but when they started into Fake Plastic Trees I was delighted, following a brilliant EIIRP too. Radiohead were great and reminded me why they're still one of my favourite bands ever. Even the rain wasn't too bad.

Getting back to Edinburgh however... that was a mission! I wish I'd taken some pictures, but getting on the train was like the youtube clip of people getting pushed on the japanese trains. and the bus station had the biggest ever post gig queue i've ever seen.

:o fake plastic trees?

I didn't think they were doing that anymore

oh

They've done it 3 times on this tour..

Great gig

just a pity about all the twats who felt inclined to start pushing everyone over near the front. I though the new songs were the best but my highlight was There There, I felt almost hypnotised by the it and that light show at the end was awesome.

still no let down

good!

Good!??

Are you holding out for Manchester?
I've got everything crossed for it

heh

i mean good cos they didnt play it in london so ill be reallly very upset if anyone else gets it! im just being selfish

Did anyone see

the 2 guys pulling? One of them obviously didn't realise the other was a guy.

oy Ross!

Sounds great! Ponchos rule!

I spent most of my time

laughing at my dad because he didn't have one and I did! I'd say if anything the rain helped, created more of an atmosphere and seemed to shut the idiots up a bit.
