Oasis on new LP: "more hypnotic, more driving"

oasis

Oasis' seventh album proper, Dig Out Your Soul, will be released on October 8 via Big Brother.

The new album is preceded by a single, 'The Shock Of The Lightning', on September 29. Says Noel Gallagher of the band's new material:

"I wanted to write music that had a groove; not songs that followed that traditional pattern of verse, chorus and middle eight. I wanted a sound that was more hypnotic; more driving. Songs that would draw you in, in a different way. Songs that you would maybe have to connect to - to feel.

"If 'The Shock Of The Lightning' sounds instant and compelling to you, it's because it was written dead fast. And recorded dead fast. 'The Shock of The Lightning' basically is the demo. And it has retained its energy. And there's a lot to be said for that, I think. The first time you record something is always the best."

Oasis, MySpace, stuff, here.

  • more plodding ultra derivative two chord pub rock

for football fans and the spiritually bereft.

    • I've heard it'll be their best since Definitely Maybe

or maybe it will sound just the same as the last four.

    • Or in other words

"This time round we'll mostly be ripping off Tomorrow Never Knows instead of Let It Be".

      • Alternative title

        "Scrape Out Your Barrel"

      • I was going to list major surgeries

I would rather go through without anaesthetic before listening to this album. But this steaming festering pile of goat shit of a band aren't worth that much time and effort.

Although by writing this comment, I have used more effort than they deserve, rendering the whole comment pretty much pointless.....

But yeah. Couldn't care less. Turgid brainless shit.

    • I can't wait for this.

As long as it's better than the atrocious last album I'll be happy.

      • more Jeremy Clarkson.

I dislike the cunts but i think they could possibly have an album left in them. They'll probably never make it but still. If they tried something vaguley different it might work, but they won't.

      • I'm not a fan, but...

the last record was better than SotSoG or Heathen Chemistry, surely?

        • I actually quite like

Standing on The Shoulder of Giants, Heathen Chemistry was awful but the last one was even worse. It just sounds diluted and weak to me.

Liam's voice is pretty much fucked these days as well which doesn't bode well.

          • Oasis

...are literally the worst band i've ever heard.

            And they're cunts.

            • They are shit.

              • a lot of hate

                where's the love guys?

                • a lot of hate

                  wheres the_glory anymore...

                  • They have been producing shit after thinking about their albums.

How is recording it even quicker going to help?

                  • lol

                  • Porridge

                    .

                    • The Glory...

..writing for Q magazine I imagine

                    • I find driving

quite hypnotic too the more I do of it. I think its the streetlighting?

                  • You're shit

                    literally

                  • The maddening thing is

that I still get the feeling that if they really, really wanted to, they could write another fantastic album. There have been a few - sparce, granted - moments on all the crappy albums they're poked at us for the last ten years to suggest that there's something still there. But I doubt it'll happen.

And Liam's still a mentalist, which is actually quite satisfying.

                    • As tabloid characters

there ok, musically I'm indifferent. I just hate the way that they've become such a reference point for new british guitar bands that write derivative terrace anthems. I could happily commit mass murder to innocents while listening to The Twang

                  • I just get annoyed when they get called MOR.

Michael Bublé is middle of the road. As is Paolo Nutini. Background noise for people who don't like music.

                    • Yeah

cos Oasis are like the music of the fucking spheres aren't they?

                      • No, you moron.

                        They're just not MOR.

                        • Ah fuck off

and learn to take at joke at the expense of these uni-browed oafs you so love.

                          Prick.

                  • oh i dont like oasis

EVERYONE MUST KNOW JUST HOW LITTLE I CARE ABOUT OASIS

                    • What have Oasis derived?

                      I genuinely don't know
