  • probably not the *only* person

    • everyone raves about it

in my mind it has lost all of its charm.

      • ehh, i like it

      • This is the point though.........

        it was a conscious decision.

The ultra suave, wisecracking, serial philanderer that we've come to know and love/loathe is not how Ian Fleming intended Bond to be portrayed.

In the novels the character is far darker and generally flawed. Casino Royale was an attempt to capture that and move closer to the original idea.

        • .

Also the Pierce Brosnan movies had gotten a bit ridiculous

        • They should have watched Dexter first

          Charming and dark.

          • Dexter is one of the worst things i've ever seen

well, it's not the worst. but it's spigging awful

  • I think James Bond

in general is an unfunny leery ponce

  • i did first time i watched casino

but watching it again i realised it rules

  • I really liked it.

But then my other favourite Bonds would be:

    The Living Daylights
    For Your Eyes Only
    Live and Let Die

I haven't seen the Connery ones enough to make a comment on those so I'm not really sure I have a favourite from his era.

I like the Bonds that are really spy thrillers or in some way odd ones. The rest are just silly films that will pass the time if you're in that sort of mood.

    • yes

I liked the one where he went AWOL, that was the living daylight wasn't it?

Now Dalton, he was quite a good bond I thought!

      • No, you're thinking of Licence to Kill

Much as I loved Dalton in Living Daylights, I thought he couldn't rescue Licence to Kill from general badness.

  • No.

But I feel the same about the old-styled bond too.

  • I've always been put off Bond by

the super cool agent with a quip for everything and loadsa women.

    • how can that possibly put you OFF something

      • Because the traditional movie Bond

is the exact opposite of me and it makes me hate him.

    • Bond needed saving from

the geriatric snigger fest it had become as Roger Moore went on far too long.

Dalton had no real charisma, Brosnon by and large did a good job but seemed a bit of a lightweight and was really just a younger version of the Moore character.

Daniel Craig is the first Bond since Connery who actually looks likes a double hard bastard who might be a bit tasty with his fists or a gun.

  • I asked my housemate who her favourite bond was

she pondered it for a second before looking up at me and said "Easy....James, James Bond"
    Oh how we laughed.
