www.hypem.com and read some blogs/play what's on offer (play down the bottom), read the reviews here/pitchfork/other jaded internet forums
also Cut Copys new album
or do what I used to do and read the gig listings in NME and download like a mofo then form your own opinions, seen many 'big' bands in tiny venues due to this.
Gracias
Pitchfork is hit and miss for me. I'll definitely check out hypem.com. Just getting really bored with most stuff lately.
....
I'm also really like Operator Please.
Their press release picture did initially put me off them, but their live performance on MTV2 was inspiring.
Check out Leave It Alone x
if you want
Something louder then get some A Place To Bury Strangers, or fuck it all and listen to some Jesus And Mary Chain b-sides x

I know I feared it would have that mistake made its a 17 year old dude from Denver that makes sweet cut-up style electro pop slive ups really good stuff.
final word
If you use torrents download those 'Indie Rock Playlist' type things from mininova.com
Very hit and miss but I found Of Montreal through them, so it's worthwhile.
Enjoy

High Places?
What they like, think they're supporting Deerhunter/Liars on their current UK tour.
I just got back in frm seeing them suporting Deerhunter
and they were brilliant they did a really enjoyable set. They kind of sound like tropica shoegaze with a bit of crunk for good measure.
listen to
shoes and socks off
I'm really liking
Roger Miller at the moment. Not exactly new, but awesome. I've bought a few of his 60s albums for a couple of bucks recently, and they're total genius.
If new things are feeling stale, maybe some old things will sound new and exciting to you?

Radiohead
Radiohead
Is the only thing right now that doesn't bore me and never will.
Trouble Books
I just tried to big them up on the announcement board to no avail but I'll try again here.
Its ambient noise pop and one of my favourite albums this year.
They've released it free on the internet, I can give a direct link, don't knw what the rules are exactly on here.
