They deserved to win the tournament in 2004 in my opinion (that 3-2 win against Holland was wicked)... I've got a feeling that the Turks might pull this one off though.

From today it's a case of either or, rather than getting two games, which is a shame.
I can see Turkey beating the Czechs today. They impressed me in the second half against the Swiss, Arda in particular was fantastic. Czech Republic aren't the footballing side they were three or four years back. I also think it's a bit of a shame it'll be decided on penalties. Elsewhere, i sincerely hope Holland roll over to Romania. I think we'll end up with Croatia/Portugal & Spain/Holland in the semi's, with Croatia beating Holland in the final. I've really enjoyed it so far, Russia were brilliant last night, them and Holland have been the most enjoyable sides to watch so far imo, but as a whole it's been a good tournament, and all the better for England not being there. Modric, Sneijder & Engelaar in particular have been superb.

Because as said
playing at different times would be really unfair potentially. They started playing final group games simultaneously after the 1982 World Cup, when West Germany and Austria played each other knowing a 1-0 win for West Germany would send both teams through (and send Algeria out). Germany scored early on and then both teams pissed about for the remaining 70-80 minutes and it was one of the most shameful games ever basically. So they changed the rules afterwards.
