gameplay good
the story / cut scenes are getting ridiculous and embarrassing now. I remember thinking it was really really intelligent and amazing storytelling when I was 13... LOL

on breasts/butts/crotches/cigarettes are starting to get a bit annoying, but generally I'm finding them okay
The swordfight scene in the middleeast (at the end of act 2 I think) was particularly AMAZING.

i'm buying this tomorrow
i still haven't got round to completing my GTA IV yet, but i don't think i can wait for metal gear... this should be immense.
Not sure about the 90 minutes
but the transition between act 2 and 3 was at least an hour.
It didn't feel like it though - more akin to watching an awesome Anime.
It coincided with lunch yesterday so, pretty awesome.
The start of Act 4 is GENIUS.

after hearing about the '90 minute' rumour, but it really flew by.
It was broken up as: (as I remember it)
~10 minute end of mission cut scene following an intense vehicle section
a minute or two game play sneaking/running through a market place
25 minute AWESOME cut scene ending the act proper
30 minute mission briefing scene (each act has one of these of about the same length)
~10 minute mission intro
the 25 minute bit is probably my favourite VG cut scene evar.
I've never played a MGS game for very long
if I got a PS3 would this be not worth getting if I didn't know the backstory?
If you're not a prior MGS fan
then this game isn't for you.
It does look a bit 'hardcore gamer'-ish for me

It's fantastic!
Obscene cutscene-to-gameplay ratio, admittedly, but it wraps the series up perfectly. Act 4 is pure fanboy glee from start to finish, as is the brilliant face-off with Ocelot at the end.
I wish I owned a PS3
