Drowned in Sound

its close to beating Bon Iver and Frightened Rabbit for my album of the year. very minimalist/ambient but so wrought with emotion. although its a lot more restrained than their last album (which is also great) at is a massive step forward in terms of song-structures and that kinda bullshit.
someone else must love this album surely? i feel like Lyle :( ...

  • I just grabbed it the other day

played it once and I like it lots so far. Very beautiful ineed. Not quite up there just yet for my album of the year but it damn good all the same. Will eep on spinning it late into the nights.

    • give it a few listens

i wasnt that impressed straightaway, but late night spins at ATP brought it a lot closer to my heart.

      • yeah I am going to

keep on spinning it for sure its a beauty.

        • i bought the last one..

which i love, especially good for a sunny day. listened to it on holiday last year loads but have rarely touched it since.

had a listen on the website to the new one and it sounds ok, more of the same really.

one of my colleagues describes it as "whale music".

personally i prefer a bit of Ulrich Schnauss or the first Jon Hopkins album.

  • You know I love it too !

Will be in my top10 of the year with Songdog, The Sleeping Years, Gregor Samsa and Last Harbour !

    • haha

i thought you had said you didnt like it?
i still need to check out last harbour. will do so now.

      • eww

they are pretty much hope of the states & and also the trees at the same time. i dont like it :(

      • nah

        I said I wasn't sure yet.
Gave it a few more listens since...
hope of the states & and also the trees at the same time ? NO WAY !

    • and for very good post-rock/ambient

      check the new SZ album.

  • .

yeh - i really really like it

although i havn't got into it as much as i did the last one, which would be hard because i had raising your voice...on repeat for months

    really great band

    • yeh

i think raising your voice and kenotic are much easier to get into. its all good really.

      • .

when the cello comes in on take a drink from my hands is pretty much the greatest thing to happen in music ever...

        possibly...

  • This somehow managed to pass me by

I'm a big fan of 'raising your voice' so I will make sure I get hold of this asap.
