Drowned in Sound

the reason i ask is because me and my friend are playing songs tonight at my friends club thing. and most of what is on the playlist is punk and hardcore, some poppy stuff, some not so poppy stuff. so if you heard stuff in a club like black flag, gorilla biscuits, some girls, minor threat, ATDI etc. would you dance?

erm...

yes, i would

:)

damn right

like a fucking spastikos

well depends what night it is

if its the standard alternative night where they played the usual indie and metal with the odd classics, then come out with some of those bands then it would make a nice change, so yes is the answer to that.

well my mates running it and hes planning on playing electro and indie stuff

but me and my friend who likes the same sort of stuff as me have been given like 40 minutes to play what we want (within reason)

we are gonna throw a few classics in like the only ones and buzzcocks, just wondering how much disinterest we will be met with when nervous breakdown comes on!

it depends what sort of crowd it is

i guess if its a fairly young 'indie' crowd, some might not be too familiar with black flag but if its busy then it should go down ok.

Good luck!

thank you!

ive got my friend who likes hardcore coming i think which should be good. as long as she likes it ill be happy. ill let you know how it goes!

You just want to see

her "guerilla biscuits" don't you?

well i hope people like you and the other above come to the club tonight!

not jack el biscuit though. ive heard hes boring :P

If it was local then I would!

Usually I get annoyed when no-one plays what I want to dance to. Or when they do, no-one else wants to dance to it. In conclusion, most people are idiots.

agreed

i get bored with hearing about five songs i really like on a night out, and all of them i hear every single time anyway, thought it might be fun for people to hear stuff they havent heard before

It'll probably depend on what kind of crowd it is

I can't remember the last time I was out.. and heard something and thought "I haven't heard this for ages! Time for a bogle..."
usually it's just stuff that's par for the course. Student indie nights are literally the worst things ever though.

yeah i know thats what annoys me

you just know every song that they are gonna play, and have heard it every time you have been out. or its fucking dubstep, which i still hear all the time i just hate it more

by 'dance'

do you mean 'flail about'? If so, yes.

not really

I used to DJ mainly hardcore at student things and always successfully cleared the floor. If you play the poppier or more commercial end you might be OK or if you know lots of people or they aren't all indie ponces.

:(

im gonna play a few poppier punk things, and if everyone just stands about for our songs im gonna run in and push everyone and start a circle pit, then get punched.

sorry I didn't really read your posts too well

I think punk stuff will be fine as there are plenty of poppy classics that most people know. I would limit the hardcore though!

i wish there were more nights like this near me

the best i have is an indie club that occasionally plays one armed scissor but ONLY one armed scissor and im now sick of hearing it.in conclusion.DO WHAT YOU WANT

Haha

We got One Armed Scissor, occasionally if I was VERY lucky I'd hear To Hell With Good Intentions.

I would regular go spastic for ATD-I

when it got played at my local.

I probably still would too, if it wasn't full of little kids wanting to hear Klaxons, Paramore and all that...

klaxons and paramore arew actually a relief to hear at my local

the enemy et al is all we get :(

absolutely

i wish i could drunkenly dance to it in a club, instead of drunkenly dance to it in my bedroom.

same here

except the abscence of drunkeness. STRAIGHTEDGE!!! :)

depends how drunk I was

but that goes for any sort of music really

Sure, why not

some hardcore is pretty fun to dance to.
I'm not sure it'll all be tame though, you might get loads of hardcore dancers thrashing away.

Unless you're talking about that kind of dance?

Gaaah!

Why don't more girls like noisy stuff?

my friend does

shes pretty much the most awesome girl ever

Well, there are girls that like good stuff

(my gf made me a mixtape with Hella and Explosions in the Sky on it and likes ATDI and That Fucking Tank) but generally they've few and far between, compared to the ones into more twee (yuck) stuff.

my girlfriend LOVES etid and refused

cos i forced her to

THIS IS A ROCK AND ROLL TAKEOVER

what i wouldnt give to hear that in a club.i suppose etid arent really punk/hardcore exactly but i would love to hear them in a clud environment

I plan to open my own rollerdisco

and have Ebolormama playing non-stop until we get shut down for being TOO FUCKING GOOD.

how about buzzcocks, the only ones

the clash, dead kennedys, fugazi?

would you dance to those?

OH and we are playing Butthole Surfers

and a some short stuff by the locust, spazz and scholastic deth :D

You should all move to Leeds

This sort of thing happens so regularly here that I've become pretty apathetic towards it.

I loved hearing Fugazi super loud in a club a few years ago though.

yeah i was at a gig in london the other day

but they had djs for a bit before, and they played fugazi and butthole surfers and stuff. was great!

i always get excited when these bands get played in a club

but usually the people im with dont. So i feel like a lone shark at times.

The other night i requested Mclusky at lennons the other night. The DJ didnt have any.
I was gutted.

Yeah

Leeds has this going down.

Treeb, please fulfill the ETID disco, it will make me so happy.

Fookin A

I'm there.

playy

some refused and gutg!
anything off background music!!!

I have danced to Fugazi!!

And I'm a damn good dancer too. Whose for a punk dance-off?

Bring it on, mate!! And best of luck for your club - wish I was there :O)
