Best frontman/woman??

video links would be super... or at least a reason...

awaits a reply linking to a thread that has done this before...

  • What, in big bands or up and coming ones?

I'd have to say Mike from Dead Kids. Because he's utterly, utterly charismatically mental.

Um...or Matt Bellamy. Cos he's bloody brilliant at just about everything, and still finds time to dance a merry jig while playing.

    • ever ???

      Iggy Pop !!

    • Mike from Dead Kids:

Pros: Great Engine (in football parlance).

Cons: Scares the shit out of me.

As for a frontwoman, you can't go to far wrong with Karen O.

      • karren o...good call...

      • How can scaring the shit out of you

        be a con!? It's a pro!

Good call on Miss O though...

      • That Dead Kids guy is amazing

I've said this before on here, but i saw them play and during the last song he tried to hang himself from the lighting rig above the stage using his mic lead, and kept saying the only thing that would stop him doing it would be if the promoters paid them more money. Incredible.

the bouncers in the club stopped him from doing it, btw.

  • Tim from Les Savy Fav?

The singer from Joeyfat was/is (are they still going?) good, too.

  • Freddy Mercury

    • well...not any more, he isn't

      • True

        He's lost his touch recently.

  • guy mcknight

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KidaMW4xKVE

constantly tripping his nuts off everytime they play.
and possibly a bad trip when i saw them a few years ago in bournemouth..if the quivering lip and terrified glare was anything to go by.

  • Dave Grohl

he knows how to get a crowd going, that's fo sho.

The guy from JR Ewing was incredible when I saw them, he was bounding about like a mentalist.

  • Beth Ditto is very good

wasn't expecting too much when I saw them, but she really manages to get the crowd going.

Tunde Adebimpe from Tv on the radio was brilliant when I saw them, also the one out of the blood arm is very good.

  • At the risk of not sounding very cool...

    James Dean Bradfield.

    • piece of balsa wood spring to mind

about JDB's charisma and onstage presence.

  • Eugene (?) from Oxbow

is probably the scariest frontman I have seen

    • yeah

      but he's cool with it.

Offstage he's a completely different guy. Friendly, eloquent and pretty charming all told.

On stage he's a self fellating bundle of pent up rage and in your face hurt.

  • Simon Neill

every time I've seen Biffy he's been awesome, he's like some demonic religious figure at times.

  • Josh

    Homme.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=haWVIaslEOs I was there and as the sun went down Josh RULED.

    Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Mmm.

  • Matt Caughthran from The Bronx/The Drips

Amazing man. Not even a messed up knee will stop him from jumping into a mosh pit to sing 'They Will Kill Us All'.

    • Yeah, I was blown away when I saw them with Rise Against at the QMU

He went proper mental in the crowd, really good hardcore. I thought they were a bit meh on record when I checked them out before the show, but after that I listened again and now I love the Bronx.

Rise Against were fucking ace that night too (as usual). Didn't get in to see the Cancer Bats because of the stupid putting bands on while you're stuck in the queue outside policy. They sounded well good through the walls though!

  • most iconic

    robert smith

    cant deny jagger

    • Ever?

If so = Bon Scott (AC/DC).

If current acts only = Bruce Springsteen.

  • Jim Morrison

He was and still is the best frontman of all time.

    • hear

      hear

or is it 'here here'? I never know these things...

    • watched the doors film the other night

and although im pretty sure half of it is probably factually inaccurate it still confirms he was probably the best frontman we're ever likely to get.

i'm also gonna throw hendrix into the ring. i heard he wasnt bad.

  • Mark E Smith

    Iggy Pop
    David Byrne
    Black Francis
    Robert Pollard
    Michael Stipe
    Isaac Brock

    • Plus

      Thom Yorke

      • This is going to get some hatred

but Jack White circa 2003, in his prime!

        • My choice is...

Terry Feathercap from Sultans Of Marrow.
          He's amazing, given his disability.

        • I shall give

you a small amount of love.

  • Nick Cave surely has to get a mention

    Kurt Cobain as well.

  • James Brown (comes close)

but still doesn't surpass James Douglas Morrison

The dude from travis. Jimmy Somerville. H from Steps. Jimmy Nail. I've got loads more....

      • that curly haired cunt

        from toploader!

        • toploader dude....

...yeah, he fukin rules. proper wigs out!!!

  • rick witter

    shed seven.
    case closed.

  • Eddie Argos!

Everyone has a good time at an Art Brut gig, and it's due to Eddie in a large way. He's brilliant at making the crowd feel like they're involved and close to the band. And he's funny. And suave.

And my girlfriend says he's sexy because of all this. *sulks*

    Joe - www.anewbandaday.com

    • Forgot about him

Yes he is very good. Probably has the best 'banter' of anyone I've seen. A natural showman.

  • not of all time, but

Paul Smith of Maximo Park is a force to be reckoned with at the moment. He fucking gives it his all.

    • I'm changing my answer to

      all of The Futureheads.

      • when i saw them at field day

Angus Andrew of liars. took fucking long enough to come on stage though.

        • in recent times

My vote goes to Shingai Shoniwa.

  • DOSEONE!

  • v

Craig Finn of The Hold Steady.

    This is why:

    • ^

best i've seen recently. he's like a crazed preacher onstage, it's magical to watch.
