Drowned in Sound

PLUS, I just found out my hotel is RIGHT next to the site.
AWESOME.
I LOVE PRIMAVERA.

i look forward

to the open sewer smell by the main stage once again

The Death Breeze.

Like ATP's hotdogs but eleven times worse.

I annoyed everyone

with my beaming face when I got back last year. Apparently my hostel is one of the most debauched in Barcelona. I am a little bit worried/excited.

what hostel is that?

i'm in gothic point. i'm sure it wasn't too debauched last year, but then i only spent about ten hours there in total. i'm looking forward to seeing what all the meals are called this time .... portishead pizza? public enemy hotdogs? animal collective mixed grill?

Hostel Kabul

its just off Las Ramblas. Its one of these overloaded places that sleeps 20 people in a room. I'm a bit worried though, I've heard some horror stories about 5 on 1 random humpings. Apparently this is what constitutes fun for some people.

Ha ha

That's where I am!

i stayed there when i went to barcelona

5 years ago, it was ace. very good times.

yay!!!

it's my first primavera and i hope to love it as you do...

so is mine :D

where you staying mike?

Hotel Princess...

...SEE YOU AT THE BAR?

me too.

sounds good!

^5s.

Kev's staying with me, too.
Party, time.

looking forward to...

estrella damm people walking through the crowds with huge cerveza cans strapped to their backs...

how much is food? reasonable prices?

good selection?

food was

expensive last year

selection was ok though, not enough for vegetarians (as ever)

hmmm i was hoping

not to spend much...may has been expensive. oh well.

Eat at the food court

across the road in the huge shopping centre before you go in. Much better value for money (and much better food - death by tapas).

just have a huge lunch beforehand

at 3pm, spanish style. i didn't really need to eat at the site after that.
3 courses plus beer for €11? yes please.

haha

i forgot those walking beer kegs - funny sights.

My first Primavera tooo...

staying at Sea Point hostel. It's RIGHT next to the beach. Couple of miles from the Festival.

Haven't packed or printed out any info.

Few questions:

How far are the stages from each other?
Is it easy to navigate?
How many Brits (rough %)?
Will you say hi to me (my name's Robin) if you see me walkin around on my lonesome?

Robin:

They're really close, longest walk is about 5 minutes
Very easy
First time I went it was about 5%, last year was about 15%
Maybe

awesome

cheers

20% Brits?

Maybe less.

Argh

I'm so unprepared. I take it the drinks/food prices are going to be predictably rapey? How have they been in previous years for searches? I've got a hip flask that I'm considering hiding in my gusset.

Lasy year

I smuggled in a liter of vodka by pouring it into 3 or 4 small water bottles, which were then inserted into the back trouser pockets, which were covered by a jumper worn around the waist. Just make sure they're not doing pat downs (they weren't last year).

I don't think they really care, as long as you're not brazenly waving bottles around on your way in.

I didn't think the food

was that expensive last year was it? I remember living on both 'White Stipes' and 'Wilco' sandwiches which were 3 euros a pop.

These posts make me happy.

Thanks! Whisky down my gooch it is, then.

I ate those sandwiches.

Yum.

Please let them sell

Mission of Burgers!

i'm extrememly excited about this

i'm being whisked out of my last exam and i'm staying in Barcelona till the 10th of June i think. I packed last night.

I think i'm going to fail my exam because i'll only be able to concentrate on Primavera.

there's a serious drought in Barcelona

at the moment, hope it doesnt affect things

^There was at the start of May

However it hasn't stopped raining for 3 weeks, think we'll be ok for water thanks.

booooo

oooooo!

wooooooo

this time tomorrow i'll be in sunny spain. British Airways free drinks, yummy.

Wooh I can't wait.

Staying in an apartment off las ramblas with cat-g and others.

I'm mostly looking forward to:
public enemy
Doc oc
BSP
dirty projectors AND MORE

Might even attend the DiS Djs ;)

Ellen, I expect you to be on your best FUN behavior the whole time...

Clashes...

The only one for me is Voxtrot v Caribou, but I guess I'll just see how I feel on the day. The massive one is Portishead v Boris, but this will be eridcated if I can get tickets for the Saturday Portishead gig.

Any idea how to get tickets for the auditorium?

They start giving them out

at 4pm on the day of the performance at the info booth. I expect nobody will see holly golightly, a they'll all be queueing for Portishead tix.

ah cheers...

will have to start queing early for this then.

Forgot that England game was on tomorrow...

...anyone fancy watching it?

Didn't think so.

yeah

tad annoyed i'm missing the first day not sure who's playing though

heard the weather's not going to be amazing which is just barbarically unfair

Even though

I don't fly out until tomorrow morning, I am now officially excited. Why? is playing on the stereo right now.

I'm playing it takes a nation of millions to hold us back

so I know more than the first 5 tunes to get my POLITICAL FUNK ON to. I can't wait.
