initially i thought these fellas were a great live band with only one standout track (fractured skies) in regards to their recorded output.
i was wrong, mapmaker is indeed fantastic...
where do i go from here?
anyone else a fan?

Yes
As mentioned in my pittance cd's thread i picked up 'stay afraid' and it's blooming fantastic,it will give you tittitus on an iPod but it's so melodic and damn good!
i love them
very much. get stay afraid. both albums are brilliant.
they are playing corsica studios in july! yeah!
oh cheers for that
if i'm not up north, i'll more than likely pop along
parts & labor
are fucking ace, and seriously loud!
they're playing supersonic i think!
i kept seeing your cd on the table at atp
but also kept forgetting to check it out
I think they're my favourite band
even though I don't listen to them that much. They just have that perfect combination of melody and noise though. Apparently Dan Friel's new solo album is really good as well.
dan friel's record
is really cool, yes - in comparison with 'stay afraid, i thought 'mapmaker' lacked that overdriven electronic/melodic noise they do so well - now i know where it went...
is this out out yet?
who put it out?
Chaos vs Cosmos
Saw 'em at a Chaos vs Cosmos night last october and they were truly brilliant, and 'Map Maker' is fantastic!
This thread made me put them on
They're super amazing live. I've got Mapmaker and Stay Afraid. I love Stay Afraid, mainly for the first track 'A Great Divide' which sounds like they're sampling bagpipes in a noise track. Which is y'know, super double plus awesome.
they've got a bunch of other releases!
there's their first album, which i haven't heard and is apparently all instrumental.
then there's a 12" EP.
then there's the new CD EP which has 51 tracks on it or something.
there's a couple of split albums as well.
need more Parts & Labor!
new album this year hopefully :)
is that ep out yet?
apparently
they're selling it on their website.
COOL
thanks!
are you going to Corsica to see them, Dantrip?
Is it expensive or not? I really want to go.
i am planning to
i want to see how ridiculously loud they are as a 4 piece. no idea on prices as i've never been there but it seems like a decent place.
...
i totally forgot how good 'new crimes' is. i'm a knob
where can one get
the 12" e.p. from? they have no concept of selling merch these gents!
don't forget the album with tyondai braxton, that's not a split but a collaboration, it's on emusic as well

ah
they finally added it... I did check a few months ago, honest guv
the beard on the bassist though, second only to warren ellis in the uuuurgh-food-in-beard stakes
One of the best support acts EVER
opening for Battles last year. Mapmaker is such a good album too. I'm looking forward to losing all remaining hearing when I see them again in July.
